There's a fast food restaurant here (Jack in the Box) that makes you order from a machine, and I HATE IT! I want to talk to people.

I don't mind ATMs when I'm getting cash, but for other transactions I prefer a cashier. Automated stuff just takes way longer when there's a screwup (i.e. have you ever had an ATM eat a check you were depositing? your money can be in limbo for weeks!).

It depends I guess.

I prefer ATM's over going to the bank.

If I'm at a store and only getting a few items I don't mind the self check out, but if I have a cart full or beer I'll go through a line instead of the self checks.

And public transportation here is kind of a joke so I don't know what kind of computers we have for that LOL

I went to the post office yesterday and really enjoyed using the postage machine (it's like an ATM!) over waiting in line for postage. Normally I'd buy my postage at the store but I was mailing out my wedding invites and needed quite a few.

Machines, all the way.

I like self check out. But when I worked at a store in high school that had them, no one used them! We were busy one day with lots of lines, so I suggested to a customer that he could use the self check out, but be guided by a manager. He flipped! Said he wanted to talk to a REAL PERSON and not a ROBOT! gah.

I hate when I go to my bank and they try to sell me more products (credit card, refi, etc). So I prefer the ATM rather than having to say no all the time when I'm in a big hurry!

mostly machines. One of my coworkers was talking about the girls at the bank that know her.... I don't know anyone in my bank. I RARELY go in there, and it's only if the machine isn't capable of doing what I need.

Machines for some things. I love ATMs and I LOOOVE the fast pass for toll roads. So much more efficient than a toll taker.

But I've stopped using self check out at the grocery store. I feel like the machine yells at me and is constantly "calling attendant" for assistance and it ends up taking longer than just going through a regular line.

Usually people. Unless I'm in a bad mood, then I'll stick with machines

I avoid machines for the most part. I NEVER use the atm at my bank. I always go in the old fashioned way, talk to my favorite teller, and do whatever I need to do (even if it is simply withdrawing cash from my checking).

I HATE self-checkout lines. Especially because sometimes I have to scan something like ten times before it works. It so annoying. I did use self checkout when I bought condoms though.

This is funny to me because I bet people's answers directly correlate with their Myer's Briggs personality type (other thread).

Depends. ATM for quick bank things, self-checkout for super embarrassing things (yeah, yeah, yeah, the self-checkout "monitor" can see what you're scanning, but whatever), but otherwise, I prefer talking to and interacting with people.
