My great-grandparents on my dad's side came here when they were very young. All of my family on both sides are from Poland/Western Russia/Czechoslovakia. My grandmother was the first generation to be born here. And then my parents and I were all born in the U.S. as well.
DH's family goes back so far no one even knows when they came to the U.S.! He also has some Native American in his family line.

Pretty far, although I think on my dad's side, it was his grandmother or great grandmother that came over from Ireland. On my mom's side, I have no idea!!

My dad's grandparents came over from Germany but all of my other ancestors have been here for too far back to even find a specific generation yet. The furthest back I have traced is the 1790's...

On my dad's side I have native American heritage and pilgrims so we've been in the US since at least the 1600's. My mom's parents are first generation though.

I'm first generation American and LO will be first generation Canadian. In my family we go back four generations that had their children in a different country than the one they were born in.

On my Dad's side, both sets of great-grandparents were born in Quebec, so my grandparents were first generation. On my mom's side, our family goes back to Jamestown!

Wayyyyyy before the revolutionary war - my great-aunt traced us back to the 1500's. At least one of my family members has fought for the US in every single war since the revolution.
My husband's grandma immigrated from Mexico so on that side he's only 2nd generation. Newbie

Mr. Jacks is a son of the American revolution. On my side it's pretty variable, but most of my great grandparents were immigrants. I know we have one ancestor who precedes the Civil War.

I don't know for sure but I think everyone on both sides was here well before 1900 and on my mom's side we have some Native American. My great-grandmother was Cherokee.
My husband is first generation American however. His parents emigrated from Lithuania after World War Two. His dad in 1949 and his mom in 1961. His mom's parents were separated for 17 or 18 years by the war and it's aftermath.

DH is the 3rd generation to be born here. They're Italian.
As for me... some of my family has been here since colonial days, some since pre-colonial (am. indian), some since civil war and then some I'm only the 3rd generation here. My family such mutts, it's hard to keep track of.

I have no idea! I traced my dads line back to 1800, and they've been in the same small town I grew up in since then. My husband's grandfather came to the U.S. from Lithuania when he was a boy.

On my mom's side one of my ancestors signed the declaration of independence so a really long time! My dad is first generation.

All eight of our grandparents (mine and DH's) were born in the US. Before that it's mostly Irish immigrants from Famine era to early 1900s, but some lines were here well before that.
We both have ancestors who were in Massachusetts during the revolutionary war. Funny thing is, our families were on different sides - DH's 6th great grandfather was a Corporal for the US. My 6th great grandfather fought for the King and was given land in Nova Scotia in thanks for his service (and because he was probably no longer welcome in the US, haha). My great grandfather was the first one from that side to move back from Canada.
I love genealogy. I recently found out that Benjamin Franklin is my 1st cousin 10x removed.

between 3 and 9 generations.... one fought in the revolutionary was (on the US side) under an assumed name!
and i have relatives that fought on all 3 sides of the civil war.

My paternal side can be traced back to the late 1600s, early 1700's. My family even still lives on the original land! My maternal side goes back to the 1800s and her grandmother was still full Cherokee, so pretty far!

My paternal grandmother moved to Canada from Portugal when she was a little girl. So I guess I am second or third generation ( not sure how it works)?? All my family is canadian.

Same as @chopsuey119 except I was born in the Philippines and my bro was born in the States.
My hubs and everyone in his family tree was born in Sweden. We have records that go back from the 1500's. It probably goes back even further though.

My mom's parents were born in Germany, and they were lucky enough to get visas to the US in the 1930s. My dad's grandparents immigrated (as children, with their parents) in the early 1900s. DH's family has been here longer, but not by more than a generation or so.

When LO arrives in October, she will be 5 generations currently alive in my family (my Great Grandparents are excited to be Great-Greats! We have settlement maps from the 1800s where my family originally settled (here in Canada), but not sure how many generations back....!
