At 31 weeks pregnant - 0 hours, lol.
Dh probably does 3? We are moving to a new house with a much bigger property next month though so I think we will both have to up our effort!

What!! WTF are you guys doing??? We spend MAYBE an hour a week on our yard. Mowing and some light weeding. What else is there to do??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Probably 2 or 3, depending on what needs to be blown off the roof and deck.

Hahaha, definitely zero! I'm severely allergic to grass, and DH is too exhausted after work to mow. We pay someone $30 a week to mow our lawn.

Probably 3-4 hours total. Mowing, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and trimming. DH does it all!

My husband spends 20-30 minutes everyday doing things in the yard, and a couple of hours on the weekends. He maintains a garden which requires a fair amount of attention, and we have backyard chickens, which I consider part of the yard work. Some weeks he'll spend a whole day out there working on things, but that is more rare.
I don't really do any of the outside work though.

DH mows and it takes him about 1 1/2 hours a week, I do nothing in the yard but maybe deal with the potted plants outside.

Probably around 3. That's my DH. I don't do any of it!

@Adira: ditto! We have about an acre and I can breeze through it in less than an hour on the riding mower while DH does the edging.

Last spring and summer, I spent a couple of hrs an evening, approx 3 evenings a week out there - we had just bought the house and the garden was a state! Then I fell pregnant in Oct and this yr the gardens have gone to RUIN! I've managed about 3hrs total, FIL has done about 5 hrs for us and DH has done 0hrs! Next yr I will get back on it!

@Adira: we mow the front on a rider, but the back is hilly and requires push. Weed eating around our fence, pool deck and ornamental beds too! We also planted five trees in June that require frequent watering. Garden needs to be watered and weeded as well as the ornamental pots. Pool maintenance (brushing, shocking, vacuuming) also. And then yard projects like reclaiming brushy areas, pressure washing, washing the siding, washing the porches, etc.

1-2 hours/week. During the summer, he has to mow weekly. I'd prefer to hire someone (as I did when he was deployed), but he wants to do it.

DH spends several hours a day on weekends plus some time on weekday evenings, so I'd say 10 hours a week, 15 if there's a project? That includes mowing, edging, weeding a bed that spans the width of the property, maintaining a grove of fruit trees, feeding and fertilizing the plants, etc. Sometimes I go out and prune things.
ETA: We live in a neighborhood where the yards are very well taken care of, and even with all this work a lot of our neighbors outdo us with their gardens!

Maybe 10 minutes. But we have a gardener who comes 1-2 times a week.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: Oh, I guess having a pool would require more work. We don't have that! Plus we have irrigation, so we don't have to water anything. We just have to mow and weed and we have less than an acre, so it's pretty quick.

At least one hour to mow.. Maybe longer if I'm the one mowing!
An hour or two weeding. I've declared war on our driveway.

@Adira: the pool was a massive time suck last summer because I was preg. This year I can help so it is less work! The worst thing I think is weeds. After mowing for an hr or so, my husband doesn't want to then weed eat! So either our edges look good or the lawn is mowed, or the lawn is mowed and the weeds are out of control. It is rarely synced up!
I am hoping to plant a lot of ground cover in the next 12 months...!

Not enough. We pay to have things mowed but everything else is still a hot mess. Still haven't gotten things mulched for this year yet!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: not enough!!!! Maybe 1 hour? Needs to be more like 3-4

DH spends a few hours outside doing yard work 2x a week mostly.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
First summer in our new home so we won't be concentrating much on the outside till next year. But DH spends a good 3-4 hour s once a week mowing and edging the front and back yard. Oh pool maintenance is probably another hour total?
Next year when we start planting and setting up a garden I can see us taking another 1-2 hours each week just weeding, plucking growth from the veg garden, etc.
@Adira: we have 3/4 of an acre of 80% grass and minimal flower beds right now.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
0 hours. We have lawn maintenance service and it's a necessity. DH works over 60 hours a week and I'm a WOHM that works 50 hours or more a week.
