I always thought that pregnancy was 40 weeks, and if you delivered sooner than that, that was an "early" baby. But it seems like so many of you have your babies before 40 weeks - and some even get induced before 40 weeks! What's typical?

Well anything after 37 weeks is considered to be a full term baby. There was a thread not too long ago with a poll and it was about 50/50 on whether first time moms went before or after 40 weeks.

Baby X was born at 40 weeks, 1 day. Labor started on my due date. But yeah, 37 weeks is full term, so while you can have a baby "a month early" at 36 weeks, that same baby would have been considered full term a week later. Sometimes docs will induce at 39 weeks or so if the baby is likely to be big or some other reason that makes delivering before due date preferable-- but 39 is still "full term." Makes things nice and confusing, right?

My water broke at 40+4 and I delivered at 40+6. Had I been allowed to deliver on base here, they probably would have tried to induce me before my due date since she was so large. I turned down a growth scan at 36 weeks because the midwife told me if I wasn't okay with having a scheduled c-section, I shouldn't have her do it.

Baby Sassy was born at exactly 41 weeks, but I only know a few people IRL that made it to, or past, their due date.

I had am induction & c-section at 40 weeks + 5 days. From what I've been told first time moms are more likely to go past their due

I was induced and had a c-section at 40 weeks 6 days. My body never showed any signs of labor(I'd probably still be pregnant if I wasn't induced! Even after being induced my body didn't progress)

I went 42 weeks and 1 day (induction). The longest gestation my OB had ever had!!!

My OB said that even though 37 weeks is full term, 39 weeks is proper foetal maturity. She doesn't ever induce an FTM befor 41 weeks unless it is for medical reasons.

My sister was 2 weeks early with hers.
My cousin was 1 week early with hers.
I was 40 weeks and 3 days with mine! I am unlucky I guess!
