And how old is he/she?
My LO is very inconsistent with her naps. I haven't nap trained... and I'm still on the fence about it. I'm still kind of unsure what a normal nap schedule is supposed to be like.

My LO wakes at around 7:40am, takes a 1.5-2 hour nap around 10:30-12/12:30. Plays, then naps again from 3-4. Sometimes she'll skip her PM nap if her AM nap runs longer than 2 hours.
We start her bedtime routine at 6:30pm and she's usually down between 7-7:30.

I'm with you artbee. My LO is very inconsistent with naps. She's only 2 months old so I don't expect miracles. She has been going on the cycle of eat, play, nap, play, eat, etc...I think that equates to about 4-6 naps per day. If she's still this inconsistent in a few months I plan to nap train.

He's almost 3 months and we won't nap train. He'll take about an hour nap in the morning sometime between 9-11. When we're running errands or on a walk (usually between 11-3) he'll dose. When we get home he'll probably take another 1.5-2 hr nap. Another little one around our dinner time.

My DS took 2 naps a day, but at daycare, he would take 1 nap a day. Now, at 3 1/2, he doesn't nap at all and hasn't for quite some time.

@Rosie Girl: was it painful when he stopped napping? i don't want charlie to give up his naps for a long time!

@Mrs. Bee: Yes and no! I do miss the quiet time and "me" time, and sometimes nap time too It got to be such a fight to get him to nap though, that I started to dread it. He also goes to bed at night a lot easier without his naps. No more excuses like "I have to go to the bathroom" or "I'm thirsty" etc, anything to stay awake longer. He is pretty much ready for bed when the time comes now!

@venice4504: If she was napping like that I'd be fine. I don't need a schedule, I just need naps! Some days she'll nap every two hours. But then we have days like today. She had two naps. One 2 hour nap at 11, and one hour nap at 5. It was a rough day!

@artbee- have you tried "stroller training"? Roll the sucker around the house if it's too cold to go out? Or run a 30 minute walk around the block and get her to sleep and then leave her in it?
