I already know that I will be a full time working mom and will be working outside the home. I'm the breadwinner in the relationship, so I'm going to have work full time. Maybe things might change but not for a couple years.

We aren't TTC actively anymore (tabled it for a while) but I know I'll be a working mom too. After I finish my next degree I'll make quite a bit more than SO, so depending on when we have kids, we've discussed him being a SAHD.

I'm currently the breadwinner (though DH works more than me as a resident) so after my maternity leave I'm going back either full time or 75% time - which is four days (which is still 40 hours). In a few years when DH is done w/ residency, I'll cut back/reassess.

I’ll be going back to work fulltime after maternity leave. My husband and I make similar salaries (although he should be getting a pay raise this year, fingers crossed!), and even with the outrageous cost for daycare it doesn’t make financial sense for me to quit working. Plus, I really love working and my career.

We're only TTC, but I already know that I'll be going back to work full-time... it will be a mix of work from home/in the office days which will be nice for me... DH will also work full time...
We agreed that we've both adjusted to our dual income household, love our jobs, and there is no reason to change our situation post-baby. If anything it makes both of us want to save more and do more etc.

After maternity leave, I'll be going back to work full time. We might be able to get by with just DH's salary, but I really don't want to just get by, I like our current lifestyle and so does DH.

You know the answer for me
We really wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so glad my daughter is growing up with such a great relationship with her dad!

My husband and I both work full-time. It was an adjustment. I knew this is what it would be like, but when you actually have a baby and transition into work- it sucks! Now it's not so bad. I think it benefits all of us in different ways.

DH is Military and I work FOR the Military. I have always been pretty career driven enen though I am NOT where I thought I would be. None the less, I will and even have to continue working.

I work full time and will continue to for at least another few years.

I would like to stay home for atleast the first year or two or maybe work part time. But we cant afford that now. so I will return to working full time after 3 months

I will be! DH and I make the same but we're both going to keep working. Right now, we're not pregnant yet, we're hoping/praying my mother in law will be our childcare.

I'll be going back to work full-time after my 3-month maternity leave. Wish I wasn't (would like to go part-time) but my husband and I make similar salaries (he makes about 6k more than I do) and we wouldn't be able to live as we do on one salary.

I will definitely still be working full time once we have a kid. We are fortunate because my mom has already agreed to watch our future children during the day. I would probably consider other options if we needed to pay for child care.

I work full time but my husband has a more flexible schedule. It's nice that he can sometimes get her early from day care so she's not there as long. Once she is school aged I would like to work PT or flex schedule or on school schedule.

I'll be working full time 3 months after the baby is born. My Mom is going to come watch her for a month after that and then dh is going to take a couple of weeks off to stay at home with her before he goes back. We can't afford for either of us to stay home, though with the goals we have set for ourselves. It sucks but we're coming to terms with it.

I will be back working full time in April when LOs are 5 months old. Thankfully, my parents will be visiting so we will be able to hold off on daycare until June.

I'll be working full time, from home 90% of the time. I'll have to trek into the office a few times a month for events.

Thanks to mountains of school loans, we will probably both be working full-time when we have our first. There is a chance that I might be able to go part-time in the next few years, which I think would be the best of all worlds: I could spend extra time with our kids/not have to have them in daycare as much, but still get out of the house and continue my career.

I will be working full time after LO is born (and maternity leave is over).

I was a SAHM for 18 months... probably about a year too long! I was miserable. Now I'm a working mom, working outside of the home, with RJ in daycare full time and I couldn't be happier!
coconut / 8299 posts
I work full time, out of the home. My schedule is a little flexible and I live close to where I work so I'm able to spend my lunch break at home with my mom and LO. Working close home is a huge plus!

We are only TTC but I know that I will have to go back full time after maternity leave. I am the breadwinner in the family....and we live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We need to have both of our incomes. I would love to be able to stay home, but that's just not an option for us.
persimmon / 1134 posts
I'll continue working full time. I'd love to be a SAHM, but it's just not possible for us. On the plus side, I work 3 12 hr shifts a week, and that's it, so it's nice to have the 4 other days off.

I'm a full time working mom and I have the best hours! I'm a high school teacher and the school is a 15 minutes drive from our house... so on most days I leave at 7am and back by 3:15pm... once a week I have grad class so I come back later and my MIL puts LO to bed... but besides that I'm usually home definitely before 4:15pm and I couldn't be happier being a working mom! it's a really good balance having your career and enjoying your baby at the same time

I will be a full time working mom and honestly am already dreading having to leave LO. I'd love to be a work at home mom but unfortunately thats not an option right now in my line of work.

I will be returning to FT work outside the home next month once my maternity leave is up. It is good to see so many in the same boat! DH is in med school so i am the breadwinner, plus i like what i do and got a degree for a reason. I may do pt or stay home once DH finishes but we have a ways to go!
persimmon / 1329 posts
Same boat as many other ladies one my 12 weeks are up, I'll be going back to work FT.

I will be a full-time working mom. I'm a preschool teacher and I'm hoping to move back to our old town so I can go back to my old job. I used to work at a really awesome daycare and if I go back, I can get a really good discount!
pear / 1861 posts
I am. I teach Pre-K.
@lilteacherbee: I teach GA Pre-K at a daycare and I get a MAJOR discount. I love it because I get to see her all day long.

You know my situation already. I'm a SAHM, and I'm so lucky that I am able to have this opportunity. I would consider being a full time working mom only if my husband could be a SAHD.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MsMamaBear: I teach NC Pre-K, but its specifically a Pre-K center. The owners have a daycare center as well, but its in another town. The daycare I used to work at is a private preschool, but I would get an amazing discount there! Hopefully, DH will find a job back in our old town for the next school year (he's a teacher too), so we can move back!

We're just TTC now, but I'll definitely be a full time working mom when the time comes. We've thrown around the idea of me only going back to work part-time (maybe 75%?) but that will all depend on where we are financially!!
grape / 79 posts
Me! After my leave I will have to go back to work full time.
I work from home most of the week so I think that will help.
