I could never be a teacher, I don't know how they do it! My sister is a special ed teacher. I've gone with her on field trips, but that's the closest I've come to teaching.

I've taught 2.5-6 year olds and currently, I'm teaching pre-k. It comes naturally to me, but that doesn't mean it isn't really hard sometimes. I'd say the most difficult part of teaching young kids is the potential lack of parental involvement. Parents are such a crucial part of their early learning (as we all know), so when the kid has a difficult childhood, it takes a toll on their classroom experience.

That, and sometimes its really, really hard to keep my patience haha

My husband is a teacher and I definitely don't have the patience or gift for it. I hate teaching lol

But I did work in an elementary school, I helped with the before/after school program - so kind of like teaching. I did help the kids with their homework a lot and it wasn't too bad.

After growing up with a mom and older sister who both taught elem ed, I decided I'd never be a teacher. The closest I've gotten is teaching some writing and editing in critique groups.

I taught kindergarten for three years, first grade for two years, and special education classes for two years in Albania. I've also homeschooled two kids through 7th grade.

In high school I was part of a teaching academy, and we taught for small segments at local elementary schools (I did reading). I thought it was a lot of fun, but then again, I only had to command their attention for a couple hours, not all day.

I've also consistently taught Sunday school, VBS and am currently teaching the high school class at our church. I enjoy it, but it's definitely a lot of work eve for just the one day a week.

As a grad student I taught laboratory botany, 4 sections (2 quarters).
Later I taught Sunday School for pre-K/K
and (full time) high school chemistry and physics.

I actually LOVE teaching but also find it very stressful. I want to teach again--preferrable undergrads or med students.

I teach veterinary technology, now only part time thank goodness! I can't believe how much work it is to be ready for a class.

My biggest surprise is just how disappointed I get when my students don't succeed or put in the work to their potential. I'm learning how not to take it so personally.
