He has 2 pairs of sneakers and a pair of native-like water shoes. In the fall and winter it will be new sneakers, maybe some boots/cuter shoes and winter boots.

Several. Usually 4-5. Including cheapies like flops and jellies and hand me downs.

Usually 4 or 5. We do one pair of sneakers, 1-2 pairs of mary janes (her favorite style), and 1-2 seasonal ones. Right now, the seasonal ones are crocs and sandals, and when the weather gets cooler, I'll get her some walking boots and snow boots.

First fall - 2 pair of moccasins
(she really could've had just 1 but I couldn't help myself)

First winter - 2 pair of boots
(she really didn't need 2, but I preferred to have 1 pair of flex sole for daycare and then hard for outdoors)

Past spring - 1 pair of sneakers
(we have other hand me down shoes that she refused to wear)

Summer - 3 pair of water shoes (1 kept at daycare, 1 for our yard, 1 for regular wearing). She had hand me down flip-flops that she grew out of. I had also bought her jelly mary-janes that she refused to wear

This fall - 2 pairs of sneakers (actually she has a 3rd pair in one size up since she already is the size I bought her sneakers in...)

This winter - Nothing yet...

For fall, DD1 got one pair of sneakers, one pair of "indoor shoes" that will live at her preschool except on breaks, rainboots. She also currently still fits into and wears another old pair of worn-out sneaks, a pair of dressier/flats, a pair of sandals, and her Natives. Most of those will be too small or wrong season soon, although I'll try to get some fall wear out of the dressier flats.

Once it gets colder & snowier, I'll add in a pair of snow boots and a pair of nicer winter shoes (chukkas or tall boots or something) that she can pair with nicer outfits to church or whatever.

I don't keep many shoes for hand-me-downs to DD2, unless they are boots or more minimally worn. For fall she currently has a new pair of SKR sneaks, a pair of indoor mocs for preschool, and a pair of rainboots. I should have some winter boot hand-me-downs for her, so will only have to add in a pair of nicer/church-ish winter shoes/boots.

ETA: so that is 5 pairs per kid for the fall/winter season. but the rainboots should hopefully last through spring too! and the indoor shoes that live at school are a new thing for us this year.

Not many! Sneakers, dress shoes, rain boots year round. Sandals and water shoes in summer, snow boots in winter. Soccer shoes in season.

@sandy: where are those cat boots from? I love C's collection of shoes!

This summer we had:
DS - Natives and rain boots
DD - Natives, Saltwater sandals, rain boots, Mary Janes.

This fall/winter:
DS - sneakers, rain boots, winter boots
DD - rain boots, winter boots, needs new sneakers, maybe more Mary Janes.

@lamariniere: so I don't know if L has watched the Lego movie but apparently there is this unicorn cat character so when C saw these boots she was like "uni-kitty!" So she loves them

@sandy: Thanks! I actually just bought her a pair of pink rain boots, but wanted to keep the brand in mind for the next time. Her feet grow SO fast compared to L (it's her 3rd pair of boots this year!). He still has plenty of room in his rain boots from last year! We've seen that uni-kitty. She loves it! Ha ha, she's so predictable in her girly taste.

In sumner, I used to get her sandals, water shoes and rain boots. This year she lived in rain boots It's her fashion statement at the moment. For fall/winter she will need rain boots, party shoes, every day boots. Maybe trainers....
DS just has one pair of shoes but will need at least wellies. It's so wet and muddy here.

LO1 has two pairs of sneakers, Natives and a pair of old rain boots that he has probably outgrown. I try to aim for one pair of sneakers and a rain/snow boot for the colder months plus a pair of Natives for the warmer months. LO's feet are slow to grow, and I have two pairs of sneakers this season since he is so rough with his shoes.

LO2 wears hand me down shoes. Currently he has a pair of sneakers, Natives, Toms, and rain boots. I have only purchased 3 pairs of shoes for him so far.

2 pairs of sneakers for school wear, 1 pair rainboots, 1 pair snowboots, 1 pair crocs not to be worn to school, flip flops for the pool.

That's it. I don't bother with fashion footwear.

I had 6-7 pairs for DS this summer and I think it was too many, he has outgrown most of them and they are far from worn out.

I am still trying to sort out what kind of shoes we'll need for fall in the south, but I am thinking 3-4 pairs - sneakers, rain boots, something a little dressier (boots/shoes), and maybe something that is still kinda summery (crocs/natives) since it is still in the 90s.

DS1 has 8 pairs right now. He has a couple of pairs of nicer sneakers, and pair for play, three types of dress shoes, and a pair of rain boots. DS2 has more, but because he has some hand me downs and some new.
