We currently live in a 700 square foot apartment, and things are pretty tight. We will be moving soon and the house is 2600 square feet, which is more than I have ever lived in. I love the idea of lots of space, but what will I do with all that space? How big is your house? Do you wish you had more or less space?

@Bao: Ooo 2600? That's so big! Love it! I don't know what I'd do with all that space haha, but I'm sure I'd fill it! I'd probably have 2 libraries or something
Right now our house is 1500sq ft. Once LO hits about age 6-8, we plan on moving to a bigger house, but it'll be perfect for the 3 of us for a while!

I think ours is almost 2600...2590 or something? It feels too big right now but sure it will be too small when we furnish it and have more kids.

Our apartment is about 1000 sq ft. There's 3 of us in 2 bedrooms right now, and soon there will be 4 of us in 2 bedrooms! (The baby is coming into our room). There's also 2 cats. We're crammed! We're house hunting right now for something bigger, cause we also have 2 (large) dogs that live with my inlaws, and there's no way we can fit them in along with us...but hopefully soon!

Ours here in England is 1700. Our house in the states is only 1200 but has a full basement and more storage, so it's a trade-off.

We live in a 950 sq ft 2 bedroom condo. It's enough space for us but it'd be nice if we had a little more space. In my dream home I'd have a large kitchen with plenty of cabinetry and a walk in pantry, a play room for my kids, and some outdoor space.

Our apartment is 850 sq ft, 1 bed, which is ok for right now but we are looking for a bigger place before the baby gets here. We are looking for at least a 2 bedroom that is at least 1000 sq ft, preferably 1200, where we can have 1 or 2 kids before buying a bigger house.
2500 sounds like a dream- but I've never tried to vacuum 2500 feet I guess

Around 1200 sq ft, townhouse. We have way too much stuff for this size space! We can fit one kid, but definitely not 2 unless we close in the game room upstairs. Can't wait to move to a real house with a 2 car driveway, yard, and bigger living room!

We're in 1800. About 1300 of that is finished; the rest is unfinished and that's where the laundry room and some storage is. It's 3 floors counting the partially finished basement.
It works out to 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. It's a nice amount of space though we will probably go bigger next time (or a different layout; we have a lot of small/choppy hallways and rooms due to various people remodeling or changing the layout over the years). We would also prefer to have 2 full bathrooms rather than 1.5. We had also had more kitchen space and closet storage in our 1200 sq foot townhouse than we do in our larger home - just a difference in the way it was laid out. I feel we have a lot of 'wasted space' now.

2150. 1 floor. It's the perfect size for our small family of 4. Our forever home will be about 3000 sq feet

@LazyLightning: Yeah our house only has 1.5 baths too, and with all that space, you would think it would have at least 2 full. It is a very old house though, so I guess back in the day they didn't need so many bathrooms

@Bao: Same here! I am the only person I know who has to keep off season clothes in rubbermaid bins. My kid isn't even getting her own closet - we use that one and our own for our clothes! (I figure we'll move before she needs a closet. She gets 2 dressers.)

2000 square feet with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It's a good size for now, but we will want to get a bigger place before having a second baby. If we finished the basement though we could up the square footage to 3000.

not enough =D haha. right now we're in a 2 br apt, <1,000sq ft. we're looking to buy and are looking at places between 1,200-1,600sq ft plus basement storage. not big, but enough for us and 2 LOs. we'll have to move again once they're ready for middle school i'm guessing.

We have 1,750 sq ft. It feels like way too much right now, but I'm sure that will change once we have kids.

Ours is 2200 sq ft. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an office. Right now the second bedrooms and bathroom are rarely used. Once we have LOs those rooms will be used and the house will feel much smaller.

Our current house is 1,300 square feet. The house we're trying to close on (our close date is the 28th) is 2,500 square feet. It's not the largest house I've ever lived in so I guess I have no trouble figuring out how to fill the space! There'll be our bedroom, the kids bedroom, the play room, my office/craft room, a guest bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and then DH gets the unfinished basement.

I'm just hoping against all odds that this new baby doesn't arrive before we can at least get some of the stuff moved over! We're going to start with the non-essentials first so if he/she does come before their due date (March 5th), we aren't scrambling to get everything done!

our townhome is 1350 sq ft. my only wish is for a bigger living room for entertaining. if we have a party with more than 10 people, it can get a little tight.

I went from a 500sqft rental house to my 1900ish sqft home and was amazed at how quickly I filled up the bigger place. 3years later I already want to move into a bigger place. At least one with a storage room!

@Bao: It's not terrible all the time. It's just an older house, so it's especially bad during really cold snaps.
