I get a little annoyed when people/companies update every single day, so maybe every other day?

Do you mean status updates? When companies/causes update 3x a day, I immediately unlike/unfriend them. Once a day is fine, even better, once every other or every 3 days.

I don't mind once a day updates. Especially if its something I'm interested in. And I obviously only like pages I'm interested in.

When company pages post/update with a link to something interesting, I don't mind if they post lots of times in a day. In fact, I find the news/reading links way more interesting than what my friends are posting about these days! But when a business page starts posting quotes and links to songs that have nothing to do with that company, that starts to get annoying. Actually, now that I think about it, I am going to un-like Bluefly.com right now! They're the worst offender on my news feed...
So, yeah, I think once a day is definitely fine, and even more often than that would be cool when you're trying to draw attention to blog entries, interesting topics on the boards, etc.
