We saw our house 4 times before we put an offer in... once at an open house, then I went again with the realtor, then DH and I went with the realtor. We went one more time to another open house the next weekend to measure the bedroom (we felt weird doing that!) and then made an offer. This was all in the span of a week. I also don't think it's weird to ask for the dimensions of the dining room... they should be in the listing details anyway.

I think twice!

We only saw ours once! But I think twice is normal. The woman that bought our house saw it three times.
Are there no online details on the listing? If there are, it should have room dimensions.

Our realtor screened it before we did and thought that we would like it. Then we went to see it. Then went back with my parents for another viewing and my Dad and DH poked around for more technically things (looked at the roof, in the attic, basement, windows, etc). While my Mom and planned where the Christmas tree would go. You know the important stuff.

She wanted us to sleep on it and come back and look at it again before making a decision which I appreciated. And I think it's totally normal to ask for dimensions!

We put in an offer at the open house! We live in an area that has been a seller's market for years and had recently lost out on multiple houses. I wouldn't worry too much about the dining room table if you love the house. You could always have it cut down!

Once. In the market down here, you don't usually get a chance to look at a house more than once, and when you do look at it, you better put an offer in right away, because things are selling same-day w/ multiple offers right now.

As far as the room dimensions - I think it's perfectly normal to ask for them if they aren't listed.

Twice, both times with our agent, we knew it was the one (we had looked at A LOT) and just knew this was it.

We saw ours once for about 30 minutes. It was the 12th house we had offered on.

Just once.... We happened to be looking with my husbands parents and our realtor that day, so we were able to get their opinion on the spot. We were only 25 and had no real experience with home ownership/maintenance. We wrote the offer and it was accepted then we spent a lot more time in the house and got my dad to come in and check it out while the inspector was there. luckily for us there was no one actually living in the house when it was on the market.

We saw ours once, and it was just the open house. We were buying in an extremely hot market though, and we'd gotten outbid twice already in the previous couple weeks. I would have liked to have seen it twice, I think.

Before that, there was a house in a different town (not a hot market) that we visited a couple times, and then drove by a couple more times...we joked we were stalking the house. But really, the fact that we kept delaying putting in an offer was indicative of the fact that deep down, we didn't want that house. We realized that later on, when we found houses we liked more and put in offers very quickly.

@mrs scrapbook: Relocation companies are notorious for taking forever. Our realtor warned us that it may take a few weeks before they got back to us.

Just once for about twenty minutes the morning it went on the market. We made an offer the next morning. And someone else put in an offer that same day!
