Just my one student loan. About $14,000? My husband offered to pay it off (we kinda keep our finances separate), but I said no because I feel like it's mine to pay. And the interest rate is 2.3%, so I'm not in a rush and just pay the minimum. I know it bothers him, though.

Debt free. Paid off $13K car loan and $20K student loans within 3 years after graduating college.

"Just" my law school loan. Don't even want to put a number in writing. Oh well, necessary evil I suppose.

Debt free right now but my husband may be going back to school soon. I know you said except your mortgage but we really won't be debt free until that is gone, too.

@Anagram: same situation here, although mine is around $9000 and 1.65%. Psychologically, it would be nice to have it gone but realistically, there are better ways to use the money than rushing to pay it off. DH hates it, though (he also hates having a mortgage and wants it paid ASAP).

Not including 2 cars (because I don't remember #'s off the top of my head), we owe around $4,500 (a mix of credit card, taxes and student loans). Seems like a small # but we are pretty paycheck to paycheck so paying it off is very slow going!

The only debt we have is student loan debt. However, a masters and an MD add up. We are just under 200k.

None. We only have a mortgage, but I won't feel debt free until we pay it off.

Don't even want to say how many student loans we have :(. Besides that, nothing else.

About $4k from maternity care, T's birth, and a few hospital stays during my pregnancy.

Over 100k, professional school! Though 1/6 of my loans were paid off earlier this year and another 1/6 will be paid next year. Yay!

Just my school loan, about $4k left. It's only about $100 a month payment, so we've been rather slow going on it!

@Meowkers: same. I have none but we have DHs law school education to pay off. Boo.

Very jealous of all of you. I owe $98k in student loans. I also lease a car which is up in October, so technically I owe ~$300 on that, but I will be buying a new car in October.

@Meowkers: @hellobeeboston: same here - "just" my law school loans. At least the interest rate is super low.

@Espion: I paid off all those loans with loan repayment grants. You should be able to access some of that money with where you work, right?
We had zero, but our dog just passed away and we charges all his care because it was so expensive. We'll pay it off by December though and be debt free again.

We still owe about 18k on our car. I don't really count it though since we could have just paid for it, but for 0% financing, we figured we'd just leave the money in investments. Other than that, just the mortgage.

@Mrs. Jacks: how long did you work before you were eligible for the grants?
