Got a great deal, around $300 for an hour session, full size digitals, and a handful of prints, in the dc suburbs

I'm in Portland. We recently paid $400 total for a session with print rights for a top photographer in my area but he is a neighbor and casual friend and I am also a photographer so I'm not sure if that was discounted or not.

I can reach out in some of my regional groups and see if I can find a couple photographers who are interested and wall you with the info if you would like.

We pay $175 for a family session and a cd of photos. They are excellent quality and have used the same photographer each time. It's $275 for newborn shots.

$75 but it's DH's cousin. We were paying $150.

Our wedding photographer is amazing, but he's too expensive for us now for family pics. It would be close to $800 for the session and disk of images, which I will just not pay. We have several very good photographers in town, who are less than $400 for the session and full disk. I'm plenty happy with their work since we like to get photos done once a year.

I bug DH every year about getting professional photos taken. I'm not sure I can convince him to spend so much on a session that we may or may not love. For now a tripod will have to do. Photography is a hobby of DH's and we have a lot of beautiful photos of the kids. The hardest part is getting us all in the frame.

I only asked for a quote once from my wedding photographer, and it was $500 including disc of images.

@Mrs. Tiger: Would you be willing to share your photographer information via Wall or PM? I'm in the DC area. Last time we did family photos we did a photographer in my hometown in W Virginia but she has gotten quite pricey.

Our newborn session was $300 plus $100 for the maternity session I think. All images included. She's a great photog too. Let me know if you want her contact info she does mini session deals too.

Just under $300 for newborn shots (was under 20 images, all rights + disk, no prints).

$125 mini session this past fall for our Christmas cards (about 12 shots, all rights, no prints).

I'm not a huge fan of formal or staged photography, so we haven't had a lot done. I would never pay for more than $500 max for a session, but different strokes for different folks.

$300 for family photos including downloads for about 30 prints. My newborn photos with a different photographer are also $300 with images.

Our photographer runs a fall special for $150, 10 edited images with rights.

Her normal fee is between $400-$500 for 2 hours and 20 edited images with rights.

We have been using a lady who charges $200 for the session and it includes a disc. I love that it is affordable! Our wedding photographer was amazing but it's more than what I want to spend on yearly-ish shoots.

I have a lot of photographers in my area that I follow on FB and typically a couple times a year they'll do mini sessions for a fraction of the price. I've done several sessions for less than $100 - typically about 30 minutes long which is a perfect amount of time - and they include a CD of at least 15-30 hi-res images. And I don't really need more than that. If I haven't seen anything for mini sessions, sometimes I'll email a few and ask if they are planning on any in the future.

Otherwise sessions fees with a CD of images or prints tend to be in the $300-$500 range here. I'm in the midwest though, and it's not too hard to find a good photographer at an affordable price, even for less than that.
