ughhhhhh we paid way too much. I say that because we custom ordered with a matching ottoman (TOTALLY UNNECESSARY, I thought it was but it isn't! Just takes up space!) and paid over $800 total. I've seen almost identical chairs at places like jcpenney. We paid a lot because we wanted something we could use for the living room later, which we definitely can, but we could have found a very very similar chair for $300-$400 I'm sure. My big regrettable purchase. I justified it because we got hand me down or discount / ikea every thing else.

ETA: I believe this is our chair, same color too. Best Chairs Mandy swivel glider and ottoman. Ours is a light beige.

We went looking last weekend and ended up at a furniture store looking at Best Chairs. They range $300-$600.

@mrs. wagon: I thought an ottoman would just take up space too!
Ours reclines and the footrest automatically rises so it doesn't take up space but yet I have a place to raise/rest my legs. I'd say look for that!

We paid $0 for a used Dutailier (sp?) glider on Craigslist. I threw out the cushions and had new ones made via a service online. I paid about $160 for the new cushions and I forget how much the fabric cost me, maybe $50 or $60. I love that chair.

We don't use an ottoman, I use a nursing stool.

I have a Shermag glider and footstool. It looks like a traditional glider (vs comfy armchair) but I could not get out of one of those pretty armchair ones with a baby in my arms, so traditional glider it was! I seriously love it though, and will eventually move it into our playroom when we no longer use it in the nursery. It's super easy to get in and out of, locks, and is so comfy cozy in the middle of the night. DS and I have logged many an hour in that chair! I don't use the footstool and didn't actually want it, but MIL got a good price on the set. Paid $300-$400.

We did what @TurtleDoves: did and got recliner. It was around $300 from American Signature Furniture. Our absolute must was it needed to have a tall enough back that if we fell asleep in it we would be comfortable and not have a kink in our neck. It has worked out great! Not as pretty as the baby room gliders but for us way more practical.

We went high end...$1000 for the PB Kids Wingback Rocker. At first I didnt think we needed one, but in the hospital I realized we did. So we ordered a cheapo $100 one from wal-mart. It was a sleigh glider that I loved the motion of...but it broke like 4 months after we got it. We absolutely love the rocker, but I wish it had more range of motion like a sleigh glider (which has more than a regular glider as well.) Its probably the most used baby item to date in or house. Now that shes 20 months old (HOLY CRAP,) we use it less and less, but definitely every day

For the actual glider, nothing we found it in a dumpster We refinished though so had to buy paint and new padding, but that was only about $50 combined.

We spent about $300 for our glider.

I am super impressed with ours and it was both (relatively) cheap at right around $400 and stylish (I think). It was also made in the US, which I appreciate, and which saved me from having to pay duty when I brought it back to Canada! And it's just as comfortable as the $1200+ chairs I tried.

We're getting the same one as @LivsMama: and it will be about $800-900 after shipping/taxes etc! For us we wanted something functional that can ultimate have a home somewhere else in the house!

$280. It's comfortable, has a tall back so I can lay my head back and relax in it and we fit very well in it. It was a GREAT investment!!!!

It is great having the ottoman with the added foot stool attached, but the glider itself is not great quality. I've used it daily for 4 months and it is already pretty rickety and the fabric is not staying in place.

@hergreenapples: Ooo, I may check that one out. Is the seat deep and wide enough to really get comfy? Does it let you rest your head comfortably?

I didn't get one with DS since I mostly nursed in the spare room, but this time I can see wanting a good nursing spot in the nursery since this time around our spare room will be doubling as DH's office.

@Mrs. Yoyo: I'm 5'10" and it is definitely deep enough for me! It's honestly more comfortable that a lot of the very pricey ones I tried out at local stores.

@hergreenapples: Thank you! That might be our pick, then. Looks just as nice as the crazy expensive ones.
