My deductible ($1000). My plan has 100% coinsurance.

Zero!

Nothing! Just paid $250 for his circ.

$0 both times. I love DH's insurance plan.

$250 co-pay for all L&D, no copay for preventative OB care.

Nada. We met our deductible in February. Actually, we paid $325 and then found out at my six week visit that we were getting that money back.

@locavore_mama: He just has amazing employee insurance that is fully funded. Some appointments require a $5 copayment but some don't. I better squeeze another kid in before they change it...a labor dispute is looming because they want to cut it, eliminate pensions and other stuff.

Baby isn't here yet, but I was pregnant when we signed up for insurance and HSA this year so I did the max for the HSA ($2000 I think) knowing we'd use it between L&D and whatever else. Plus you can use the HSA for breast feeding supplies, prenatal vitamins, etc, so I knew it wouldn't go to waste!

Our insurance won't pay anything for a home birth, so we paid $2K out of pocket to our midwife for attending our latest birth.

With our first Wagon Sr. had incredible insurance. I never saw a bill. I may have made some copays for OB visits. I can't remember.

With our second, our insurance was great but not as great as the first. No copays but ended up with a bill for about $350.

We had no insurance so both times we paid a little over $4000 for all of it.

OMG I feel like I've gotten railroaded here! For those of you who have low-cost births, (<1k) how much do you pay in premiums?

We pay $1000 a month (DH's work covered 80% of that, new job pays 100%). So far we have spent $4200 on medical care (birth, routine baby visits, and one ER visit for me). $1600 of that I still have to pay off!

@mediagirl: Took the words right out of my mouth. We were responsible for our deductible, and then our out-of-pocket-max, which was about $4k. Good thing I was pregnant over two calender years. PERFECT. Remind us to work for bigger companies with some legit benefits when we have #2.

Almost $3k by the time we paid hospital and OB

I think I'm the "winner" (loser?) so far. We met our deductible on Lorelei's birth alone, and also paid around $3000 to the staff that was going to assist/attend our planned homebirth. So over $10,000 out of pocket. Yummy. Can I also go back and vote, "I hate insurance?"
