We've picked out a first name and last name and now we're down to a middle name.
The only hesitation I have with the middle name we've chosen is that it spells out the initials CAO.
Maybe I'm a little sensitive because as a kid, people used to call me a "cow", but are the initials CAO bad? Or is it a non-issue and I"m over thinking things?

I don't think CAO would be a deal-breaker for me. I would say as long as they don't spell something ridiculous or offensive, it wouldn't be a big deal. People don't use initials that often.
It is hard enough to pick a name so if you have finally found something you agree on, don't let the letters stop you!

I wouldn't mind those initials. Some initials are deal breakers, but that's not bad.

I don't think little kids teasing about initials would be sharp enough to connect CAO with cow ... It would be different if the initials were COW or ASS or something like that...

I don't think that CAO is that bad. Now, I do have a friend that realized her baby's initials are OMG. That I would change. Especially nowadays.

Um, my daughter's initials are brutal. Totally didn't notice until my husband pointed it out when she was 5 months old. Hope no one notices....

Thanks for all the opinions! I feel much better about it and I think we're going to fill in the birth certificate tomorrow and finally send it in!

It mattered to us. LO's initials are GO-which isn't bad, nothing weird or silly. But, we definitely wanted to avoid BO-we did consider Oliver as a middle name for a little bit, but then his initials would be GOO!

We considered honoring DH's aunt and giving our LO her name as a middle... but when we finalized Addison as a first, ASS just wasn't going to cut it 
CAO on the other hand, I would be fine with.

I would have never read that as Cow. I honestly don't think that initials are that important. And also, a lot of times when you have things monogrammed, they put the first letter in the middle, the middle initial to the left, and the last name initial to the right. So in those instances, her initials would be aCo. Totally not cow!
Our daughter's screwed both ways...It looks like if we use the middle name that DH likes, her initals will be HAH!
Then if I have something monogrammed, it will read aHh....So AHH....Whatevs:)

@sunny: I would have never read CAO as cow, so I totally think you're fine. I think initials only matter when they spell out curse words or other offensive words. (I had a friend in high school whose initials were KKK...now that is just wrong.)
@jholler25: I have always done the 3 initial monogram with the last name initial in the middle, the first to the left and the middle to the right....have I been doing it wrong this whole time??

@jholler25: phew! We got married in Key West in December and I gave each of the girls a monogrammed beach bag as a wedding favor...I was going to be super embarrassed if I did it wrong!
