I'm always surprised when I see a post (or hear of someone in real life, which has happened recently) where one parent is fighting hard to name their baby something the other parent hates.
Personally, I don't get it. I had a name I loved before I knew my DH but when it came time to talk about baby names he said he didn't like it. Conversation over, imo. Honestly he probably didn't care ENOUGH about the name that he would've fought me on it if I said my heart was really really set on it, but I have never liked the idea of choosing a name my husband didn't also love. Similarly, if he likes a name and I don't-- discussion over. We both have absolute veto power and there is no lobbying for a name because just knowing the other one of us doesn't like it sort of ruins it for us.
Just wondering if we're the weird ones, in our feelings that we both have to truly love whatever name we pick? Or if that is more common and those "my husband is dead set on naming our baby Dorothea and I hate it and he won't let up" (<-- actual fight my cousin had lol) people are the rare ones!
