Mine is $60/month so I'm considering switching because I'm used to paying $10.
How much do you pay for birth control?

@Mrs. Bee: Yikes! That's a lot. I used to pay $15 for my birth control but it was Seasonale so it lasted me 3 months.

I now pay $0 because that is how much it works out to after insurance!!!

I got Mirena and it was covered by insurance 100%. It's nice not to have that monthly expense. I was on yaz before LO and it was $30/ month

@Mrs. Bee: $0....when i was on BC i had implanon...and i had it in for over 2 years...

@Mrs. Bee: shouldn't it be covered under insurance or at least a generic version?

Before TTC I was on Yaz and it was $100 for a 90 day supply. Sucked but when I tried the generic I felt crazy. I don't know if it would be a lot cheaper now with the afforable care act though.

My Mirena was 100% covered under a free supplemental state insurance (ONLY covers birth control) so I didn't pay anything.

I used to have a Nuva ring, it was $40/month with my ins we have new ins now, so I think it's probably $20, but I haven't bought one so I'm not positive.

My Mirena was covered 100% by my insurance, didn't even have a co-pay for the office visit where it was inserted. Had it not been covered, it would have been about 1k out of pocket.

$0 thanks to Obamacare! The first time I got it for free I was so confused. They handed it to me and I waited a sec and was like, ".....so...don't I need to pay?" and they were like, "No, it's free!" Score!

when i was on yaz, it was $35/month. generic was $0 under affordable care.

$0 we are infertile due to make factor so I can't get knocked up unless I cheat. But on the other side we pay thousands of dollars to get knocked up....

I'm on Yaz and mine is $60 a month. I've had horrible experiences on generic and other BCs so I suck it up even though it's ridiculous.

@regberadaisy: it is a name brand so my copay is $60 -- there is no generic version. generic prescriptions are $10.

@Mrs. Bee: I used to pay $50/month and I was annovulatory. Waste of money much? Hahaha.

I was paying $17 but we switched to DH insurance and it's $0.

mirena was 100% covered by insurance when i had it put in 3 years ago. didn't even have to pay for office visit to have it put in. but i did have to pay to have it removed. i switched jobs & insurance since then so maybe that is why.

I used to pay $30 / month for generic when I was on the pill (I work for a Catholic hospital so my insurance didn't cover it). I got a Mirena after having M and didn't have to pay anything. I'm not sure if it was because the laws changed regarding what they have to cover but I was happy!

Wow! At $60/month, I think I'd just take my chances haha. I used to pay $14 for 3 months.

When I was on it, it was free because of insurance, but I quit and started temping after the side effects got to be too much.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
$86 a month with insurance. It would be $122 without insurance. There's a planned parenthood about 45 minutes from me that I'd like to go to because its so much cheaper, but I just can't seem to get there.

I think mine is $60ish a month, but it's been covered by my insurance for the last few years, so it may have gone up without my knowledge in the last bit.

I used the patch once, and it was $40 /m but then I went back to my usual, depo shot, and it was $0.

@evansjamie: I quit, too! I hated it-expensive, and it made me feel.awful.
We pay $0 now-NFP is free well, we had a class that we paid for, and I bought a thermometer, but that was three years ago, so I think it has been more than paid for by now.
pomelo / 5820 posts
I haven't been on it for several years, but I was paying $25 or $30 for Yaz. When I was on a generic kind, I paid $10.

$10/mo on the pill. But I'm about to switch from HMO to PPO (effective July) so we'll see!

My pills are free. I even get extra packs fully covered because my OB doesn't want me to have withdrawal bleeds due to my anemia. Yay for no periods and free BCPs.

When I was on the pill a long time ago it was almost $40 a month. I didn't have insurance though.
Now we just use good ol condoms... sooo.... not even a box a month
