We're getting a security system set up this Thursday and I'm just wondering if I'm getting a good deal. I called around and this is the best I could find. It's 29.99 a month for the 1st year and then increases to 39.99 for the next two years. You have to sign a 3 year contract. Normal?

Wow! Y'alls are a lot! Mine's $16.95 plus tax per month (no contract). I complained to the company when they raised the prices to $21.95 plus tax per month.

3 year contract is pretty standard with one of the national companies. We use a local (statewide company) that does wireless systems. The rate is $16'ish a month. We pay for a full year, which gets us one month free. I also believe we are non-contract (or if there is one it's annual). I won't do another 3 year contract.

Seconding @MamaG. We don't have a security system but when we looked into it, the national companies (e.g. ADT) charge around $30/month with 3 year contract (that subsidizes the equipment installation) and local companies charge $10-15 with no equipment install and no contract.

we pay 40 for a wireless system (no landline) it would have been 30 if we had a landline.

We pay $23/month but we use a local company, not a nationwide one.

Just asked my husband and we pay $56/month with wireless and ADT Pulse. We were kind of forced to go with them since the house came wired with an extensive ADT system, but I still can't figure out why we're paying so much.
