@yellowbird: when comparing fees, I'd take into consideration what the coverage is, including prescription benefits, and howich the employer pays.

ETA: in 2014 our premium is about $1500/mo with a $1500 deductible and $6,000 OOPmax. Our prescription benefits don't quick in until we've met the deductible. It covers me, DH and LO.

DHs employer pays for some of the premium.

DH is covered by his employer and he doesn't have to pay anything (lucky!). DS and I are on an insurance plan under my company and we pay $130 per month for the both of us. It would've been insanely expensive to put him under DH's plan. I believe in the $300/month ballpark?

For medical and dental for me, DH and LO, and short term and long term disability for me, I pay $550 per month. My employer pays for most of the actual premium. When I was single, I had no premium. I'm happy with the coverage and the cost.

193.00 a month for me and LO's health. DH's monthly premium for health is 38.00 (that's what mine was before adding DS.)

I think premiums depend on what your coverage is (e.g. deductible, Out of Pocket expenses, co-pays, etc.).

I pay $300 per month for me, DH, and DS.
Deductible: $500 individual / $1,500 family
Out of Pocket max: $2,000 individual / $6,000 family
Co-pay: $20, but all wellness appointments are covered 100%
Co-insurance: 90% after deductible

Right now 230/mo for DH + me. In 2014 that goes up to 290/mo. Once we have our LO it will be 490/mo. That is just our portion (DH's employer does pay some in addition to that. I don't have insurance available through work).

It's a pretty standard plan. $1400 deductible, 6400 OOP max, nothing is paid until deductible is met, then 80/20.

We're all on Hubs plan (so Hubs, me, and Xander) and it's $375/month. I believe it's a $400 deductible, 80/20 after, with $4500 OOP Max.

I currently pay about $115 per month and my hubby pays about $30 (his employer also offers a plan he could be on for free, but he chose the more comprehensive option). Next year, I think we will all go on my insurance and will pay around $250/month. We tried to calculate out the costs/benefits of him and LO being on his insurance and me staying self-only (his employer offers self, self and dependent, self and spouse, etc but the premiums to add a spouse are astronomical if the spouse has coverage elsewhere, while I can only choose between self-only and self and family but the premiums don't change based on any other factors). In the end, it was basically a wash but we have a MUCH wider range of providers in my insurance network than in his, and I didn't like any of the ped options we had through his insurance. Trying to figure this ish out is so stressful!!

Dan just got picked up by a new contractor and their insurance options are awful. We can pay $300/month for a $7500 deductible with 60% coinsurance after (!!!) or $450/month for a $5000 deductible with an 80% coinsurance. Ridiculous. I think we'd be better off with no insurance.

We're close to $800/month with $2500 deductible for the 3 of us. My son and I are on private insurance, and my husband is on the company plan. We'll all be moving to a new private plan after the first of the year that should bring us to around $700/month for similar coverage.

We're very fortunate to have family insurance covered by my employer. Another reason why I can't ever sahm!

But we still keep LO on her own state funded insurance because it's amaze balls. Hers is $60/month.

@looch: it is pretty much the same in NY State! Your premium is dependent on your household income!
You have NO idea how many friends I've told this to and they assume they don't qualify and don't even bother checking. I keep telling them, dude, it's not Medicaid!!! Unless you're freaking Donald Trump you will qualify. So annoying.

I pay $0/month but am on the high deductible plan ($3,000 deductible; 100% coinsurance). DH pays $200/month for him and LO ($600 deductible; 90% coinsurance; $2,000 max OOP).

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yours sounds like what ours will be next year. FREAKING RIDICULOUS. Excuse me while I go vomit and think about what I could do with all of that money each month.

@photojane: check. I never knew one did in my state till a colleague told me about it. But a lot of states requirements are more stringent.

I pay about $80 a month (through my employer) but I have an EPO plan which is cheaper than a PPO. I have to stay in network but in the long run with my DH's health issues, it's cheaper.

If I had gone with a PPO, it would have cost us $250 a month plus copays. EPO was definitely cheaper for us.
