Since i've been an adult and had to pay for Christmas on my own I usually spend $100 on the parents, combined. For my sister I usually spend around $50. For DH about $200 MAX.. and for his parents & sister we usually spend about the same. We don't do extended family anymore, none of our familes exchange gifts anymore. Times are hard now lol

Still hearing we spend about $800 total shocks me a little. We're not big spenders and don't have a lot extra

$30 each on my 2 brothers.
$50 per parent (only my parents, I don't have in-laws)
$30 on my niece

DH and I don't really have a budget on each other.

We don't spend much at all...I would guess less than $250 on all family, and DH and I don't usually get gifts for each other.

We usually spend $150 or each set of parents, $50 for siblings and spouses (5 total), $30-$40 on nephews (4 total), $10-$15 on other kids in the family (9 total), $25 on grandma. The some friends. Last year we set $100 limit for gifts on each other, this year we are getting a camera, but I still want something to open on Christmas morning, so will probably do the $100 limit again.

Probably over $1000 this year. I can't help myself, I love buying gifts for people. We save all our Discover cash back from the year, redeem for gift cards to buy stuff with, so that helps.

$600 total on our two girls. Then $50 each on parents (5 total) and then a total of $30 to $50 on each niece or nephew (5).

This year I think we will be spending a little less than we used to. Probably about $30 per person. We have to buy for 3 neices, 3 nephews, parents, brothers and sister in law, and each other. Shouldn't be too bad.

I'll be honest.. I don't keep very good track of what we spend! I buy gifts all year round if something strikes my fancy for someone but handmake things as well. Next year we're moving to only getting gifts for littles on my side, which will cut some costs out.

We don't, however, really spend much on one another as husband and wife. Small, handmade gifts or under $30 I'd say.

We usually just buy for our parents, and spend around $50-$75 on them!

@sunny: Several gifts. Like this year I will be getting him 4 nfl jerseys, a snow board and all the gear.

So far I spent $45 on niece 1
$32 on niece #2

The plan is to keep it under $50 per person!

About $30 each on my niece and nephew, $20 on the baby cousin, about $50 on the parents (dinner gift cards), and about $20 on our secret santa (we draw a name out of the hat so we all get one gift each). I make goodies for my friends, too. We spend < $400. And i already started ordering stuff online, so that makes it feel like less of an impact.

We don't usually buy gifts for each other. If we want something during the year, we just buy it for ourselves. So we go out for a really nice dinner, go to a show, do something that's more of a date than a gift. I'll put together some stocking stuffers for him...but I might spend $20?

We do go on vacation after Christmas, but that's more of a timing thing and not so much a gift to each other thing, since it's our one big trip/year

We're Jewish, so Chanukah isn't as huge a deal as Christmas to us.

Spending for me varies because I'm a big DIYer. I can spend anywhere from $5-$20 on a person, but no more. We have to buy for my family only, DH's family doesn't do gifts except for his niece and we'll spend $20-$25 on her.

I'll spend up to $50 on DH, and for LO we barely spend anything because she's only 15 months and doesn't know what a gift is yet. I've been finding little things on sale, nothing more than $3 each. When she's older I'll still get her cheapo little things for the first 7 nights and one nice gift for the last night.
