I've gone from low maintenance to medium maintenance and am surprised how often I have to go in and how pricy it's become to have my hair go from dark brown to blonde ombré. I'm not sure if I will keep it up or just let in grow out.
How many times a year and how many minutes/hours at a time do you sit in a stylists chair?

I get four haircuts a year, so it is probably close to 4 hours a year in the salon chair. I don't dye/relax my hair at all, so in between I just maintain. I rarely blowdry my hair unless it's really cold, and then it's only enough so I don't freeze to death going outside.

I just got a pixie cut, so went from 1-2 per year to needing one every 5 weeks. I LOVE my hair but it's pricey. Takes about an hour each time (initial cut was 2 hours!)

ha! I cut my hair once, maybe twice a year...it's terrible, actually. I'm lucky if I blowdry it after a shower, vs letting it air dry.

I cut/color my hair basically around Easter and Thanksgiving/Christmas. Maaaaybe a 3rd one in there....depending on if I'm going to have my picture taken. Lol

Previously I got 2-3 haircuts a year with lowlights in the fall. So less than 5 hours a year.
It's taken 4 bleach jobs to lighten up my ombré. Now it's fall

I get my hair colored every 6-8 weeks. I have my bangs cut every visit and get an all over trim every 3rd appointment. I missed the last one before baby arrived because I thought I might be in labor and my hair is way over due and kinda making me nuts

I get a haircut and now highlights every six months at best. I just started highlighting my hair again, so the maintenance is a little more than when I would just wash it and air dry it. I hate drying my hair with a hairdryer, so I air dry whenever I can.

Totally forgot about my bangs - I trim them myself every few weeks when they start hanging in my eyes.

@youboots: well I just got baylage done in August and I wish it were a little more noticeable so now I am going to go again in october. It's getting pretty high maintanance! Previously i got a trim like twice a year.

One haircut every 1-2 years. I usually grow it out and then chop it off and donate. I tried going for an actual hair style once and I was too lazy to maintain it so I just keep doing this. I'm actually considering a digital perm but think it might be too much maintenance (considering I literally spend zero time doing my hair, any more time may be too much!).

My mom was a hair stylist for years and years, so she does my hair when I visit. We don't get to it every time, so probably around 5-6 cuts a year, plus the occasional quick trim. When I have higher maintenence haircuts, that gets bumped up.

@LulaBee: yep i'm in that boat too. Cut every 6 weeks. However, think of all the time you save in the morning!!!
i love getting my hair cut. I've had very very short hair for 10+ years, and when I say short I mean above my ears. However I'm considering growing it out. But I'm not looking forward to spending more time on it in the mornings until I get past the awkward phase.

I basically get my hair cut twice a year out of laziness - I generally get it cut to just below my chin and then grow it until I decide it's too long and I need to get it cut immediately, rinse, repeat. I have a LOT of grey, though, so I dye it every 6-8 weeks, plus I don't like how it looks air dried so I blow dry every day and flat iron when I have plans or when I'm working. So it takes a fair amount of time to maintain.

I probably got 2 to 3 times a year and generally just for a cut. So 3 to 5 hours a year, I suppose. I hate upkeep on color. I did before kids so it just doesn't seem worth it to me to make the effort/put out the money after kids. I like having a few highlights but I just don't like it enough to keep up with it.

I get my hair cut about once a year. I purposefully get a style that will grow out well. Never color or treat any other way.

Maybe once a year, for going to a stylist. It's depressingly pointless because the results last a week tops, if I wait that long to wash my hair. At home maintenance would take an hour each day, but I prefer to use the hour on extra sleep and chores, so I should probably cut it all off. Haven't done that only because I'm waiting for a day when I'm magically going to be less tired and can care for my hair again! Maybe it'll come yet

I get it cut about 1-2 times a year. Basically, cut short then let it grow. I let it air dry or lately have been blowing it dry after putting in some gel. I wash every other day.
I have some greys, most likely will keep and don't plan on dyeing. My mom has grey and it's a nice salt and pepper.

It's pretty low maintance.. I just have to brush it daily, and wash it at least every couple of days (or longer if I use dry shampoo and put it up...). It's pretty flat/limp though

I just get mine cut about 4x per year. Haven't colored in a long time but I think I want to when done having kids.

I'm high maintenance - I get it colored every 7-8 weeks - too many grays not to color it. I have reduced costs by not getting it highlighted and really just touching up my color and not doing an all over color most of the time. Luckily I found an independent stylist and it's a lot cheaper than going to a salon with lots of overhead and management costs.
I can't style it well - time is the biggest issue now - when I have time I may flat iron it to try to get the frizz out but for now I use the B&B beach spray after I shower and go.

Very low maintenance, I get cuts about 2x a year, and no dye, so 2-3 hours/year. My stylist is amazing and the shape really holds--like, I just saw a bunch of colleagues after summer break who complimented my haircut, which was back in May, lol. I usually apply products when it's wet, or slightly dampen my hair to reapply on days that I don't shower, so just a few minutes in the morning. I only shampoo like once a week, and shower/use conditioner like every other day-ish. I airdry and usually wear it down
ETA My grays are increasingly showing, but I don't really care too much--I'm a college instructor and I feel like it gives me more authority since I'm only about 10 years older than my students

I get my hair cut every 8 or so weeks. I've learned that my hair looks best a certain length and that requires frequent clean ups in order to make my mornings easier. With a good cut, all I have to do is blow it dry with my head upside down and I pretty much good to go.

I get my hair cut every few months and I do the color myself. I went to cosmetology school but never worked in a salon. I recently decided to add in some ombré and the girl I went to didn't do exactly what I wanted. So I tried it myself and it turned out ok! I'm thrilled not to have to spend $$$ on color.
