Did he use his vacation or sick time? Or something else?

My husband will get 3 days of paid paternity leave, and then he will be taking 1 weeks of vacation time.

Just a week; he used vacation time. It started the day I went into labor.

12 weeks. It was over the summer when he doesn't teach, but is still paid, but he would have taken the same amount of time off had LO been born any other time.

He got 3 days of paid paternity leave which butted up against a weekend. He could have taken vacation time after that, but my mom was here and we decided that he was better off saving the time for if I needed help after she left (he'd been there less than a year and didn't have a lot saved up) . This time he has a lot more time to spare, so he'll probably use more of his own time (even though my mom will be living with us this time). Plus EDD is X-mas Eve, so hopefully he'll be able to stack it with some paid holiday leave.

1 week paid paternity leave (that's all his company offers) and then after my mom left, he took another week vacation time.
I think we will do the same this time.

2 weeks. He used sick days since those don't roll over year to year.

He can take up to 6 weeks paid paternity leave. He's planning on taking 2 weeks because any more and it will hurt his career, which is frustrating.

For baby #1, he took 4 weeks off and used his vacation time (he had saved up for it). After those 4 weeks, he worked from home two days a week for the next 4 weeks.
For baby #2, he took 5 weeks off, but worked from home one day a week. He used vacation then too (also had been saving it up).

He used sick time!! He has a lot accumulated over the years!

He took 6 weeks. We were lucky that DS was born in November so we took advantage of all of the holidays. He used a combination of vacation, holidays and then about 1.5 weeks unpaid.

Took two weeks. I think his work gives 1 week free and the other he took with PTO.

3 weeks. But he was relatively new. Used vacation and sick I think. Took more throughout her first year which is when he is entitled to use his bonding time.
This time he has accumulated a lot of comp hours through OT. He is planning to take 12 weeks. Or he might take the first couple off, go back a bit, then take the holidays off which otherwise would never happen. We want to fly to visit family for Xmas since it is unlikely he will get that kind of time off around the holidays in a long while. (He can sometimes get Xmas day or xmas eve but not both and definitely not a whole week. But he is entitled to choose his time off with a new baby.)

About 10 days, pto. My husband didn't handle the stress of the twins well and I actually preferred for him to be at work at that point.

5 weeks. Used all PTO, then took the rest unpaid. He got FMLA to secure his position.

He took two weeks paternity leave and then worked from home for another three weeks.

3 days. He had to use vacation. Unfortunately, those three days were me being induced. We had her on Friday night so he was then off Sat and Sun.

Two weeks paternity leave. Then 2-3 days a week he worked from home. We got really lucky he was on a project at home. He didn't have to travel till 8 weeks for training. Then 12 weeks was back on the road weekly.

He took off a week. I had LO on a Monday, his work gave him 3 free days and then he used 2 days of PTO. He was eligible for 6 weeks of paid family leave but because of his type of job (commission based) he would never have been able to take 6 weeks off at one time. He ended up taking a week here and there through the rest of the year.

He took a vacation week then a couple weeks later took some time for Christmas. I will insist on at least the first 2 weeks if we have another one. I had an unplanned c section so that made it harder on me than I anticipated but I guess you never really know how it'll be!

One month, paid without using sick or vacation time. He could have taken longer but any additional would be unpaid.

3 weeks vacation. I told him I wanted him off as long as his father was in town.

six weeks. he had 1 week paternity, 2 weeks vaca he'd saved up, another week of vaca that he had just earned through a promotion, another week his boss just gave him, and one week due to being around the holidays!

5 vacation days (thurs/fri, mon/tues/wed) i was in the hospital the first 2.... he could have taken more days through out my 14 week leave but he opted to carry over 2 weeks into the new year... 4 of which he lost in 2014 because he didnt use them....i still resent that he could have taken more time but didnt

He only got a couple days!

He was working from home for most of a month because his office got flooded by Sandy. And then took off three months when DS was five months old. He used FMLA sick time because we had a medical reason (thankfully, nothing serious). Though I feel like this is really not accepted in most workplaces - DH could only do it because things were very bad at work and he felt he had nothing to lose.

He took a week right away and used vacation time. We planned for him to only take a day or two right away and my mom would help, but my recovery didn't go great.
He the used paid paternity leave for 5 weeks when ds was about 3 months old. And then he added two weeks vacation on the end. So he had almost 2 months home with us last summer.

1 week, starting the day I went into labour. He was in his residency at the time and his program "gave" him the week for free... Had he taken more than a week he would have had to use pat leave or vacation days.

He took a month off with both kids, but still checked email periodically and went in a couple times to check in. It was great!

DD was born on the weekend and during Hurricane Sandy, and so since our house and his office didn't have power for days, he got a longer leave, and ended up being home with us for about 10 days. He did get 2 weeks paternity leave which he took when I went back to work...best decision ever.
This time around, he'll have a lot more because he works for the company that just announced a major advance in their maternal and paternal leave policies...he'll get 8 weeks of paternity leave to use within a year of when this one is born! -
For DS1 - DH took two weeks of unpaid leave, which his company was cool with. After two days back after his leave, they laid him off.
For DS2 - he'll take prob a week of unpaid leave. He's at a new job and told them about the pregnancy before accepting the offer. They were fine with it.

My husband's work offers two weeks of paid paternity leave. Since my mom was staying with us, he took off one week right after they were born, then went back to work. Once she left, he used paternity leave and vacation to take off random days here or there when I needed a break or we wanted to do something fun together.

He took off a few days, went back for a week and quit! He started a new job 2 months later. It was awesome to have that time together!

1 week of his 2 total weeks of vacation. Super lame.

He can take as much as he wants, whenever he wants. Planning to take a couple of weeks at least.

He had hospital clinicals for school and shifted things to have 6 days off.

The first time it was about 3 weeks off. The second time was maybe 10 days. I wish I had him around longer the second time around!

Only 1 week - he doesn't get paid much when he takes time off, because he's mainly commission based.

He was home with us for a week following DS's birth. Thanks to my MIL for working the shop for us.

One week, which included the two days I was in the hospital. My parents were also here that week. They left on the Saturday, and he went back to work on Monday. I was okay with it because I had an easy recovery, and he had a lot of responsibilities at work at the time. He'll be taking a couple of months off later in the year.
He used sick time!! He has a lot accumulated over the years!
