DH just said that he *thinks* he might take up to 3 weeks of FMLA when baby #2 comes so that he can spend more time with DD and help me out. I'm so excited to get that much time as a whole family 
(he only took a week for DD) And it will be paid because he'll be using his sick time.

For DD my DH took the standard 2 weeks, and for DS he took a whole month off. Honestly, he wasn't all that helpful! But we did spend a lot of time together and we went out to eat lunch every day, haha. But that's really nice that your DH is thinking of doing that

DH received a week of paid paternity leave from work and then took an additional week and a half after that. So 2 weeks after we got home from the hospital. I definitely needed the help though b/c I had a C-section. I honestly don't know how I would have done it without him those first few days.

He took 2 weeks off and I didn't think it was long enough. I wish he would have taken 4 off. I kept begging him before the baby came to take longer off, but he was getting push back at work and didn't want to fight it even though I kept telling him he could take up to 12 with FMLA.

He's a professor, so he doesn't get paternity leave/time off but M was born 2 weeks before the semester started, so he was home full-time for 2 weeks. He also only teaches 2 days/week, so he's home with us the other 3 days.

he wasn't at a great job then, so he didn't get paid leave. This time I think they give him 3 days off, and then he has vacation/personal time he will take a week from one of those. so including weekends just shy of 2 weeks, I hope.

A week and a half, but his regular work hours allowed him to be home by 3pm every day, which was AWESOME

He took off 2 weeks full time, and then went back at half time for a week. He also came home at lunch every single day of my 8-week maternity leave. He was great

@2PeasinaPod: Yep. DHs company has ridiculous benefits. But because of what DH does, no one can cover for him, so he will still end up working even though he is "off."

He got two weeks paternity leave and took another 2 weeks of vacation. It was awesome to have him there that first month.

4 weeks for LO and 5 or 6 weeks for LO#2....my memory is foggy!

He had planned to take off 3-4 weeks but he got a different job right before she was born. So he took off a week and a half (since she was born on a Wednesday). He was probably allowed more but it was unpaid.

He got 3 days PTO that butted onto a weekend. So LO was born on Wed and he went back on Mon. That was just paid paternity leave. He could have used his regular vacation time but we decided he should save that and use it if I needed him home after my mom left.

There's no paternity leave, but DH is eligible for FMLA and he's a federal employee in an area where they are super flexible- a friend ours and colleague of DH's took off 9 months to be a SAHD after his wife's 3 month maternity leave was over.
With DS, he took off 2 weeks right away, and another week when I first went back to work. This time, if all goes well, I think he'll only take off a full week at first, but only work 4-6 hours a week for another week or two or three. DS will continue to go to daycare, and my parents are only about 35 minutes away, so I'm fine with being on my own for half days with the new one after a week.
If DS was going to be around all day, I'd totally want DH to take more time! -
Military gets 10 days daddy leave, but that includes weekends (technically military "work" 365 days a year). DH might take extra this time around, but that depends on how I'm feeling.

When DD was born, DH took 2 weeks of vacation. When #2 arrives, DH will be taking 6 weeks of paternity leave.

A week and probably the same for subsequent children. I don't think we can handle loss of two incomes for that long!

Well, he took 4 weeks. He did work from home quite a bit, so I think he was able to charge a week of that time. He's been accruing sick time the whole time he's been there (5 years), and he'd taken maybe 1 or 2 days prior to the baby, so he was finally able to use it.
I feel a little bad for saying it, but he was starting to get on my nerves. He wanted to be productive all the time, and I just wanted to sit on the couch, watch stupid tv and sleep with my baby. He was getting cranky because he was having to be so lazy.

He took 2 weeks off (although first week was dr appt, bumped induction, labor and hospital stay) and then part time for a third week. It's his first part time day back. I'm kinda freaked, but so far it's going well!

12+ weeks.
Luckily, LO was born 2 days after his semester ended and he didn't teach that summer so we were both home from early June until after Labor Day. Had she been born during a semester, he still could have taken 12 weeks, but I'm not sure if he would have.

Dh took six weeks paid. He could've taken the 12 weeks FMLA, but we decided to pass on it. He'll probably take 3-4 with LO#2 in the future.

He's a teacher and she happened to be born 2 weeks before Christmas break, so he took two weeks leave and had another two weeks automatic, which was nice.

That will be interesting to see. My husband works for my dad so we will see how generous my dad is feeling. Hopefully it won't be based off of what my little sisters husband got from his employer (no time off!).

DH had 4 weeks paternity leave, took two upfront and the rest over the next several months. He came home early a lot during the first month or so and took Friday off whenever he could. I hope he can do the same when we have a 2nd.

My husband took two weeks off- he was going to take only one but his boss made him take another week off.

Last time he took 3 weeks off. This time I doubt it will be that much. Since it's around spring break, and other staff will also want time off, he'll probably have to work some part days here and there.
We'll at least try to max out his sick time since he rarely uses it. So around two weeks of time, but spread out through the month.

He's planning on taking a week of vacation. His boss is looking into possible paternity leave, but I don't know if it would be paid or not.

Umm like zero. He was in the middle of training his replacement in addition to learning his new job in a different state... he took a full day or two off right when we came home but that same week was gone for like 12 hours
He then tried to work half days until we moved but it didn't work out that well. It sucked, a lot.

he took 8 days for DS and 7 days for DD. i wish he would have been able to take more, but we couldn't afford him to be off unpaid.

He took off 3 months to be with DD after I was done with my maternity leave.

DH has saved up a months worth of paid leave...but he automatically gets 3 months leave so he can call in without it counting against him if he needs to.

It's tricky because DH travels 90% for work... As of right now we have it worked out where he'll be working at home for the 3 weeks before I'm due (working out of the office which is "conveniently" located in our state (it's a worldwide company and he's the only traveling guy based out of here!), and then use a week of PTO for the week after I'm due, and then a week of unpaid FMLA after that...so I'm HOPING little girl decides to make her appearance ON her due date at the verrrry latest!!

DH can take up to 7 weeks. BUTTTT he will be in an intense government regulated training program through work for the next 3 years. So he will have to take all or most of that 7 weeks during designated times vacation can be used. He probably will be only able to take a day or 2
and then take all of July off.

DH took off about two weeks when LO was born. He didn't enter it as PTO, then his boss said that it was his unofficial paternity leave. It's how they do it at his company.

dh took off 2 days. I went in for my induction on thursday (lo born thursday night) and he had friday off. He had the weekend off and was back to work on Monday. I was stuck in hospital until Monday so he came and picked us up after he finished and then we were straight into the routine of him working and me being a mom.
