$100 for regular friends, $150-200 for closer friends. We haven't had any immediate family members get married yet but when the time comes we will prob give about $500.

@Bao: I live in your area. For a not super close friend 50 seems like more than enough.

I'm in Wisconsin and I've only ever given $50 (from both DH and myself). My "ideal" amount to give is $100, but the 2 weddings I've ever been to (besides my own) were RIGHT after our own wedding so we were broke (any gift $ we received went to pay vendors. I think we only got around $1000, anyways). So, we opted to only give $50.

Well I guess this is totally regional because we had 240 guests at our wedding and only 4 people gave us $100-$200. Every other gift was $25-$50.
We could never afford to give more than $50 (we go to 5-7 weddings a year, have 9 this year) ...unless it was a very close family member, then we would give $100.
Eta: the people who gave us $100-$200 were people like grandparents or long time family friends. None of our "peers" gave more than $50.

We give about 200 as a couple. I give about 150 pp for family, except my bro, we gave 2k.

I used to spend more until I realized no one in our circles spends that much.
So nowadays $25-50 for people we aren't super close to and $50-100 for people that are closer to us.

@Bao: I've never given more than 50$. At our wedding, the most we got in cash was about 100$, and that was from my dad! I guess this is a regional thing, because all of my friends/family usually gift in the 50$ range unless its immediate family, then maybe 75$-100$ MAX? Honestly, I'd never be able to go to a wedding if I gave 100-200$!

same as @bunnylove08. we live in the north west and i come from the north east.
people were super duper generous at our wedding -- we got a lot of monetary gifts from people who were not able to attend, as well as those who were able to.

We usually give $100 for DH and I. If it's a close friend, we give $150. If it's an acquaintance, and only 1 of us is attending the wedding, we give $50.

$100 for friends, $200 for close friends, we haven't had any close family members get married so that is tbd!

We generally do about $200 but if we're really close with the bride or groom, it could go up to $400. Many of our guests were even more generous with us - but they were older family members. But I'm from Long Island and this is very typical there (esp at the big Italian weddings I'm used to attending!)
