And what do you use? I can't imagine actually getting on my hands and knees cleaning these floors super often, but I am sure I would need to sweep/swiffer them much more often. If you have hardwood floors, how often do you clean them?

The Shark! Steam 'em baby!
ETA: Steam cleaned every other week or so . . . more often in places like the kitchen (I have hardwoods throughout the house).

A lot, we have two labs. Bona is great! You can find It at lowes and use a microfiber type sweeper with it

Not often enough, now that I'm pregnant. But when I do clean them (which needs to happen this weekend), I sweep, then Swiffer with the dry cloth, and then I mop them with Method's Wood Floor cleaner.

We vacuum and steam mop at least 1-2x per week. Our short haired dog sheds a ton!

Sweep/vacuum every day/every other day. Swiffer wet jet mop every 2 months, sometimes more often if I feel it needs it. I also spot clean in the kitchen a lot with paper towel. We don't wear shoes in the house so it doesn't get that dirty.

Probably every other week.... I'm sure it will happen more often once we have kids crawling on the floor! But every 2ish weeks is fine for us now.
I vacuum/sweep then use the steam mop (we also have and love The Shark!).

@LindsayInNYC: best thing ever. and at BBB you can sue your 20% coupon http://www.amazon.com/Shark-S3501N-Deluxe-Steam-Pocket/dp/B0028MB3HM/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1365535279&sr=1-1&keywords=shark+steam+mop
I sweep (ok, not gona lie, I vacuum) every other day, when I clean the house.
I mop once a week and my cleaning lady comes every 3 weeks and she does the whole: on her hands and knees scrubbing thing and she oils the floors too, since in the winter they get super dry.
I use the Shark when I mop and it's great...however, its rumored that it'll fog up your floors? Hasn't happened yet.
Also, its great for tiles!

@LindsayInNYC: @TurtleDoves: It is a modern mop that sterilizes your floors with steam, without the need for chemicals! It's AWESOME! And like @TurtleDoves said, it is also great for tiles.

@MsLipGloss: @TurtleDoves: Ooh, thanks!! Is it similar to a Swiffer Wetjet (it looks it)? I didn't care about the floors when renting but now that we own an entirely hardwood floored place, I definitely want to be more on top of keeping things clean!!

@LindsayInNYC: It's similar (in appearance) except that it is much heavier (more like a Bissell) and it requires power!
ETA: And that totally made me think of Snap's "I've Got the Pow-ah!"

@LindsayInNYC: noooooo. God no.
look here:
the swiffer is not very modern in comparison.

@LindsayInNYC: no clue. I have bought refurb laptops and a refurb scanner before and they both run/ran fine. I am thinking for 60% off, why not give it a try? aha

I sweep and then mop with the swiffer. We rent though and the floors aren't real hardwood. I don't feel like I need to do anything fancy with them.

I sweep and then stiffer once a week. I guess I should give them a good mop once I. Awhile but they don't seem that dirty. I'll spot clean them when necessary I'm always amazed though at how much dust and hair the sniffer picks up even after I've swept!
