Unfortunately, I do this more often than I would like to admit. I play books on cd and know I'm totally distracted when I have to find the cd case, find the correct disc, remove the disc from the changer and insert the new disc. Then I have to put the old one away...
I'm also guilty of having my phone accessible. I think I just need to give it to my daughter when we're in the car so I don't itch for it.....

I used to be a lot worse about this when I was younger and pre-baby. I would talk on the phone (never texted tho), eat, etc. Now, I'm super focused and I get really upset when I see ppl texting or extremely distracted (the other day, I saw a girl on the freeway going at least 65mph putting her eyeliner on. EYELINER in a pot so both hands were off the wheel, and she was checking herself out in the mirror. ) it's one thing to put yourself in danger - be my guest if you wanna get in accident! - but the thought that they are putting innocent lives at risk really, really irks me.

@pinkcupcake: I once drove up next to a girl who had her two hands on the wheel. In one hand, she had her cell phone. In the other hand, she had her ipod. She kept looking back and forth between the two...and swerving between our two lanes. I was so mad!!!

More often than I should. #1 reason because I use my phone to play Pandora and plug it into the auxiliary plug in my car. And then of course I change the songs when I don't like them....

I am much better about this then I used to be when I was younger. I do talk on the phone when I am driving, but my car has a hands free option so I feel that helps. Now I really try not to do anything else when I'm driving.

I have my phone accessible. It's actually against the law to even have the phone in your hand while driving, even if you're not texting or on the phone. I'll admit to sending a quick text when i'm at a red light, but it's far and few in between.
Ever since DD was born, i don't really "drive distracted". I sometimes don't even bother changing the station if i have to reach over.
People who text while driving or don't use speakerphone make me SO mad. Like raging mad. Cars are bad enough, we don't need shitty drivers to endanger everyone around them.

More often than I should, and I'm trying to be more mindful of it. The worst for me is when I get lost or I'm not sure where I'm going and I am trying to pull up the GPS on my phone, etc. I should just start typing in the address before I leave the house if I'm not 100% sure where I am going.

I'm not often distracted by things in the car, but I drive the same routine everyday so I'll start off at work and end up almost home and have NO clue what happened in between the two. It's such a routine to make the drive I could do it with my eyes closed, so that shows I'm not too focused on the road. oops

Very rarely. I'm a very nervous driver so I'm careful to put the GPS location in before I leave, get my pandora set up, etc. the screaming baby in the backseat is a little distracting though.

@mamimami: Same here! When I'm not doing anything else I actually find myself paying LESS attention. I get bored & start thinking about other things. 
I need to find a solution so I can start paying better attention!
@MrsTiz: This too! I pretty much only drive to drop off/pick up DH, go to the same grocery store, and church. Everything is the same pretty much everyday!

WIth my phone, never. It is always in my bag.
I have my son in the backseat, so I am constantly checking what he's doing in the mirrors, it's not good either.

Since having the baby I really try to pay full attention to the road. I wait til I get to a red light to look for something. The only thing that distracts me these days is when I am following the GPS for directions

I am easily distracted but I know this so I take extra precaution when driving. I rarely take a call while driving and never text or use my phone. I use the steering wheel buttons to change stations on the radio so I don't need to look at that. I set up the GPS before I leave the driveway. I did register for the mirror setup to see baby in the carseat so hopefully that won't be too distracting.

I'm actually pretty good about this! Since my car has manual transmission, I don't generally have a hand free to fiddle with other things! At most, I will press the radio pre-set buttons. I've made it a habit to not use my phone at all while driving.
