About once a week - we see her pretty frequently. On top of that I usually call or e-mail once a week. Probably will be more once we have the baby.

I will send her emails every once in a while. I hardly ever talk to her on the phone, though. She's a really nice person, we just don't have a lot to talk about.

Eh, almost never, haha. Only when she calls me or we're supposed to be getting together for a holiday or something.

I'm in the almost never, very rarely category. There's a lot of history as to why that is. I get along better with my FIL than my MIL. Basically, I wasn't the person that she wanted my husband to marry. She's made that clear to me over the now 7 years we've been together, married 2 of those. I've learned that it's best to keep my personal contact with her at a minimum. My husband really wants me to have a relationship with her, but I don't like her terms and conditions of said relationship, so it's on my terms which are infrequent is better.

She'll usually call me every couple of weeks to see what's up or tell me about something going on with the family. We see my in-laws every Sunday though since we go to church together. Husband talks to his dad almost daily and his mom every couple of days. Usually I'll have him call and talk to them if there's something we need to ask or find out about.

We email fairly frequently depending on our work load. Sometimes it's once a week, other times it's 3x/week. Mr. Marbles calls his parents at least once a week and once in a while I'll chat with them too.

We see my in-laws about once or twice a month, but I rarely talk to her on the phone or e-mail with her. Sometimes my husband's talking to her and I shout things that I want him to tell her though. He hates that.

@sorrycharlie: How is it living next to your IL's? My parents tried so hard to get us to buy a house in their neighborhood... but we didn't go for it. We're only 10 minutes away.

We're about a half hour from my IL's so we see them 1-2 times a week. I'm not a phone person so we rarely talk on the phone. My hubby talks to his parents daily though.

More than I want to! Just kidding, sort of. My in-laws (and my parents, too) live 20 minutes from us so we see each other at LEAST once a week. MIL calls me (not my husband, her son!) to get updates on LO...

You know Marie on "Everybody Loves Raymond"? (Raymond's mom)...Well, that's my MIL. She loves her son, she loves her granddaughter and she loves me, too, but she has no problem passively insulting me. GAH!

I almost never talk to my MIL. My husband emails her once in awhile but he hardly talks to her as well. She lives in the states and we don't but I think even if we were back in the US, I probably still wouldn't talk to her regularly. I just don't feel any kind of connection with her so it's hard to have a conversation with her.

everyday. She lives in our 1st floor apartment. I drop the baby off for a few hours in the morning while I catch some sleep. We eat dinner together 3-4x a week. I get along with her so it's fine and she loves cleaning my house for me. It was uncomfortable at first but I'm starting to accept more of her help now.

Our in-laws live about 2000 miles away, so we only get to see them once or twice a year. Usually DH calls his parents once a week to have a nice long chat and fills them in on what's going on. MIL likes that one-on-one time with DH so she's happier that way anyway. So we really don't talk that much on that phone. However, we text each other a few times a week just to share something funny and I usually send his family a card once a month (i.e. Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.) to say hello.

I only talk with my MIL when we are visiting her.

@artbee: it's not too bad--there are pros and cons. MIL bbsits our 2 y/o nephew so she would come over a lot or call me for company I think. It's also nice if I get tied up at work she is willing to let the dog out for us, or close windows in rain. She used to have a habit of coming in constantly (think everybody loves Raymond!) but DH addresses it and she calls first now her dog drives me nuts with barking sometimes--he gets mine going--but overall it's helpful. And they are very flexible with rent and repairs (we share their duplex).

My MIL watches Wombat for us, so I talk to her pretty often. It's great because she doesn't charge us, but I feel like she's commenting about me working even though my husband was laid off over a year ago and went to grad school, so I'm the only source of income.

We've lived with my in-laws for the past couple of months while looking for a house, so obviously everyday. But even before then, it was pretty often (3-4 times a week). I'm closer with my MIL than I am with my own mother. Plus, we now live 5 minutes from MIL, so I see her a lot, which is fine with me

We probably text once a week or so. I get a long with her great though.

@junebugmama: I have pretty much the same exact relationship with my MIL.

It is getting better, though. I wrote her a letter to open up the lines of communication. I had to essentially forget our rocky past and forgive her. (I still think she's nuts though.)

We plan to get pregnant soon, so I'm hoping it things will get better.

It's kinda random with us, we get along great but we both get busy. She will be taking me for my first ultrasound and we go black friday shopping together every year.

We hardly ever talk on the phone. We text/email maybe once a week?
