We rarely drink juice here. Occasionally (1-2 times a year i'll buy it), apple juice and a little more often orange juice but that's it. At parties or things like they they drink juice boxes.

We don't have juice at home but if we go out to eat and her meal comes with a drink we'll let her choose what she wants (she usually chooses lemonade).
ETA: This probably works out to 1-2 times/week.

She's never had juice. Once she's over a year old I won't mind if she has some every so often.

LO sometimes asks for OJ. My oldest also wants lemonade sometimes. But, I still mostly try to push water.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@yellowbird: I put never because we don't buy it and when we go out they usually have chocolate milk, so he won't order juice. He does drink chocolate milk though.
ETA when he was younger, we used apple juice to help with his constipation, so that's probably part of why he doesn't ask for juice.

My LO is almost 18 months and had it for the first time last week. We were at the beach and my aunt offered her some and I initially said no, she's never had it which surprised my aunt for sure. Then I figured it was no harm to have it once of course. She didn't even finish the juice box through.

Having a child with chronic constipation that drastically improves with 4oz of prune/apple juice a day meant that I had to throw my no juice ever stance out the window. She gets it daily when constipated (with or without miralax) and never otherwise. I usually give it after dinner so I can mix miralax in.
I totally feel judged when I do it in public.

@farawayyama: same here. I give prune juice when it's bad, apple on a nightly basis. I mix his poly-vi-sol in there so he will take it. I also like to give him a juice box on occasion when we're out in the heat, cause I know he'll drink it and stay hydrated.

Special occasions mostly, though sometimes she asks for OJ if we have it and I let her have a tiny bit. Otherwise it's just if we are out and a special occasion. But she just doesn't like it that much. It had been recommended when she was constipated and I was so afraid to give it to her thinking she would never drink plain water again- and she wouldn't even drink enough to relieve the constipation.
She occasionally gets chocolate milk as a reward for sleeping well so I'm not exactly standing on a soap box over here.

Just on special occasions and I cut it with some water. I'd say it's probably once month or so.

Never, I try apple juice when shes sick in attempt to keep her hydrated, hoping it's novel enough to entice her. She always refuses it.

1-2 times a month at most, and less than that during the winter.
However, if my mil is watching them it's probably more, but that's rare in itself.

Special occasions and maybe 1-2 a month when we go out to eat.

Rare special occasion. He still loves milk (and water).
grapefruit / 4291 posts
Only on special occasions but we do flavoured milk and plenty of other "bad" foods!
nectarine / 2973 posts
At least a cup in the morning. Sometimes more if she drinks a lot of water we let her have a little more juice later in the day if she asks.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
When we buy it, everyday, usually. But I don't buy it that often... So I voted 1-2 per week.
watermelon / 14467 posts
Every morning with breakfast. We are big fans of orange juice over here. Occasionally she gets some later in the day. She also drinks chocolate milk when we buy it.

Multiple times a day. I always dilute it both to reduce the sugar and make a bottle last longer, but this is one of those things that I just DGAF about
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
Special occasions or rarely around the house. We don't often buy it but during summer to stay hydrated or for constipation.
grapefruit / 4712 posts
My oldest doesn't really care about juice. My youngest drinks multiple cups a day. Although his ratio is 2ounces of juice to 8 ounces of water sometimes more.
pear / 1593 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: same here on the DGAF lol
He has multiple times a day diluted to about 1/5 juice. I feel good about his water intake, and he drinks lots of water because of the small amount of juice in each cup. Win/win.

Special occasions. Usually at a birthday party or out to eat.
Today it was strange though, for the first time ever he asked for juice. And since he never has it at home I thought it was weird. I do have a small thing of OJ that I got because my nephew was visiting and I thought he might want it. So I wonder if my sitter gave him some today so he knew I had it in the fridge. I don't mind that much, it was just strange for him to ask for it.
Now that he's almost two, I won't mind if he gets a glass at home a couple times a week.

Every day at breakfast, but we do choose 100% juice/no sugar added varieties, and dilute it (probably to about 1/3 juice or less). I'm all about a splash of juice in their water bottles, or a juice box on a hot day at the beach to promote hydration, whatever it takes to be sure they're drinking enough.

My 2.5 year old has never had juice. We just don't drink it and she's never asked for anything besides water and milk. She does however like iced coffee. I gave her pedialyte the other day when she was throwing up and it reaffirmed my choice never to give her juice lol. She was begging for it like an addict for days after. I told her it was medicine and she was telling me she was sick and needed it. Then when I said she couldn't have it if she was sick she said she was feeling better lol.

Well DD1 refused to drink anything but water until she was about 2. Now she has half and half juice/water every morning at breakfast. And of course baby sister wants to have some too. That's all they get though.
nectarine / 2771 posts
Once a week at church with the snack she gets at Sunday school class. Otherwise, it's only milk and water at home. DH and I are not juice drinkers, so it's rarely in the house.

Honestly we just never buy juice (and we aren't health nuts either). I feel like most of my posts on here are about baking! As a kid we never had flavored beverages because they were too expensive (only milk). And as an adult i only buy OJ when someone's sick. So she's never had it. I'm not opposed to it but we just never have it in the house.
@catomd00: you just reminded me that my niece drinks "coffee" everyday. It's actually chocolate milk and her parents started to give it to her because she's constantly throwing a fit about not being able to drink "coffee". I was watching her one morning and she kept insisting she get coffee and I was like "???????".
persimmon / 1445 posts
DD gets a cup of half and half OJ-water at breakfast pretty much every day. I try to limit her juice and sugary drinks later in the day, but I have been kinda relaxed about it this summer since it is so hot and she hasn't been drinking enough liquids.
nectarine / 2173 posts
Very very rarely. Once recently to try a delicious apple cider at an apple farm...never regularly. We don't buy juice.
nectarine / 2641 posts
LO1 doesn't really like it. Occasionally he will have a couple ounces of something he tries at a party. But usually he rejects juice.
LO2 hasn't tried it at 14 months.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
Pretty often. Not every day but most.
If we go to a restaurant, I will either order her a juice box or have them do diluted juice in a cup. She loves it so it keeps her happy.
I send very diluted juice with her to school (2 days/week) to make sure she drinks since she's not good about water. And if she's not doing good about water at home then I will give her diluted juice.
eggplant / 11287 posts
My children have orange juice (an orange juice/water 50/50 blend) about 4x a week.
pineapple / 12566 posts
I never buy it at home. But they are offered juice at daycare and I know they drink it. We just spent almost 2 weeks with my ILs and my MIL offered it every day (and didn't dilute). I'm ok with it for special occasions or if we go to a cafe and let them order something.
