I change A's diaper roughly around the 11pm feeding, 3am feeding and 7am feeding. We usually cloth diaper but use disposables at night so the dampness won't wake her up.
How often do you change your LO's diaper at night?

I changed DS at every wakeup/feeding until about 6-8 weeks old and then changed during the night if DS pooped. We also cloth diapered and I used fitteds and covers at night with a fleece liner to wick away moisture but get the most absorbency.

We CD, and I change him whenever he wakes up for a feeding (usually every 2-4 hours).

We use disposables but change for every feeding at night (2-4 hours like @mole).

I changed my LO at every middle of the night feeding until he was 6 months old. He wore cloth at night, and I don't think changing the diaper affected his ability to fall back asleep.

Midway through every feeding b/c she loves to poop while eating! (too bad, b/c the diaper change totally wakes her up)

We would typically change her at around 11pm and then not change her until her 8am feeding! She never pooped in her sleep. The disposables did a good job of keeping the dampness away from her tush and she never got a diaper rash. (We use Desitin with every change)

Thanks ladies. LO is 5 weeks old and while I don't mind nursing every 2-4 hours at night since I breastfeed in the side-lying position, I feel so groggy for diaper changes and LO has a tough time going back to sleep.
I can't wait until she can sleep in longer stretches!

I have to admit: we used to change him every time he woke up to eat, but we don't anymore. He usually only wakes up once, and he goes back down much easier if he hasn't been woken up by the diaper change. We CD during the day, use 'sposies at night (Nature Babycare). Been doing this for about a week now, and he hasn't gotten a rash.

We changed her until she stopped pooping at night. Once that stopped we didn't change until the morning.

I keep reading that you should only change the diaper of they poop-is this not feasible?

@blackbird: -crying- but she poops alll the tiiiime... (and every time we wipe poop off for a diaper change, she poops again. and again.)

We are only doing poopy ones. She screams too much and then we can't get back to sleep.

L started STTN at 8 weeks, until then we changed him if he woke (1 - 2 times). Once he started STTN i read that you don't have to change them during the night if they wake, so when he started waking again (more often he still STTN, but has some regressions where he wakes once), we don't change him during the night. just feed and put him back to bed. he never poops during the night, but if he did, we would change it.

We stopped once his pooping regulated to during the day. We use naty nature babycare disposables over night (CD during the day) and coat with triplepaste as a preventative just in case. No rashes!

in the newborn stage we changed diaper every feeding until she started sleeping through the night around 8-9 weeks

Does anyone know why you don't have to change their diapers once they STTN? Thanks!

I change and feed her around 8, and and then she goes to sleep around 9. I will usually try a dream feed around 10:30, but she doesn't always take it. I don't wake or change her for that feed. She wakes up herself to eat at 3 and 7, and I do change her before both of those feedings. She doesn't poop in the middle of the night (always after the 10am & 6pm feedings), and won't wake if she just has a pee diaper, so I won't need to change her once she STTN.

Midway through every night feeding (after he finishes the first side). We swaddle him and I'm not skilled enough to figure out if he's pooped unless I unswaddle him. And by that point I might as well change him. The few times I've been lazy and not changed him at 3 a.m., he's had quite a messy diaper at the next feeding which made me feel guilty like he'd been sitting in it all night
@Mrs. Lantern: I think at that point they tend to have fewer/no nighttime BMs? I heard that in an Isis webinar. Supposedly a developmental thing. Plus I wouldn't want to wake him up once he starts STTN!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@mrs lantern, i read that it just wakes them up and makes it harder for them to learn to go back to sleep

I change her at 11pm and again when she wakes up between 8/9am. She has been STTN since really early on and neither poos nor complains about a wet diaper so we let her sleep.

Thanks for all the feedback! LO doesn't mind a wet diaper so I'm going to let her sleep instead of waking her up for a change.
@oliviaoblivia: do you have any issues with leaks?
honeydew / 7687 posts
@allison: me too! Do you get them off amazon? The open box prices rock.
pear / 1895 posts
@scg00387: Amazon or Diapers.com. What's the open box deal? I don't think I've heard of that?
bananas / 9973 posts
About 2-3 times each night (though we don't really count "nights" here until after midnight...)
honeydew / 7687 posts
@allison: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/amazon-open-box-diapers#post-536442 It's when people return or the outer box is damaged. It's often cheaper than subscribe & save! You just have to check back on it.
