LO is only 20 months and DH is eager to go camping. All i can envision is how difficult it will be to get him to sleep in a tent, change his diapers outside and run after him all day.
Have you camped with a toddler? Am I being too negative? Pros and cons?

We went camping when LO was about 16 months old. We only went for one night just to test out how it would go. She had a good time, but it was *very* humid that weekend so it was hard for us all to truly enjoy it. Sleep was the trickiest part, she ended up sleeping next to me and not in her pnp since I didn't want her cries to disturb other campers.

It lasted twenty minutes.

We went last year when lo was like 5 months....we haven't tried this year because we are afraid about sleep. Hoping next year will be easier.

We took LO at 12 months and it was a lot easier than when we took her at 7 months.
We traveled with friends who have a LO whos 26 months and they did a campout in their back yard to prepare their son for camping. He did great the whole weekend. So maybe that would be a good trial run for you to get an idea of what to expect on your trip?
The biggest pro for me was that LO has an absolute blast! She loved running around picking up pinecones, chasing squirrels and bunnies and was exhausted by the end of each day!

We took LO on her first camping trip at 7 months. We picked a close camp ground that we could leave if things didn't work out and only went for one night. It went great! Since then we've gone on multiple day camping trips and one three day back packing trip with her (she's 11 months now).

we went camping with DD at 7 months in yosemite and again at 16 months to the beach. we're going again with her at 20 months and super excited! i've written a little blog post about it! wall me if you want the link. 
long story short, i totally love camping with our daughter and yes, it can be more difficult, but it's super fun!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: hahaha I was just talking to DH about how we'll have to wait at least another two summer before going camping because of #2. And he said well we have a tent and we have a backyard.
Maybe I should play that Daniel Tiger camping episode beforehand. 
I have NO interest in taking an infant camping!

We've gone a few times with DD1, the first when she was 4 months, again at 8 months, and again at 16 months. We love camping, and she has done super great on all the trips (and she is NOT a good sleeper, but has slept through the night each day of each trip!). Our next camping trip is this Fall when DD2 will be just over 4 months... hoping she does as well as her sister! I think camping with kids (even infants/toddlers) is so much fun, just takes some extra planning and the realization that it might not be as relaxing as it once was pre-kids

We went for the first time when LO was 8 months and it was great, but it is MUCH easier now that he's a solid walker. The only thing that is difficult for us is sleep, but that's always difficult with LO.

We are going in a couple weeks with ten month old dd. Her sleep sucks anyway so why not!

We've only been once since the kids were born. My DD was about 2-2 1/2. The first night she didn't go to sleep until 11, but she never does well the first night we're in a different place. The second night was better.

14 months. She loved it! She slept like a rock, even though the temperature dipped down to the lower 50s. Lots of sticks and rocks to keep her happy all day.
