@septca Yes! I guess it's like everything else though! My OB is pretty great and down to earth and she was the one who reassured me with her "own" 9 month minimum recommendation. One of the OBs in the practice always has really rigid interpretation on everything (the one time I saw her in early pregnancy for #2 she made me feel really bad for only breastfeeding for 11 months). After my second LO was born I talked more to my OB about this and she said the primary concern with having children too close together is that you go into early labor. Both my LO were born on their due dates, so she said I am probably okay. We want to have more children and I frankly love the 20 month age gap. Not to say that we aren't exhausted and there aren't tough days, but I have a really hands on husband and I find it all really manageable! Good luck:)

I stopped breast feeding at 8 months in prep to start trying and got my period back when LO was around 11 months. I got pregnant with #2 when LO was around 13 months old, which is perfect for us. We wanted an age gap of 18-24 months this time (we are planing a bigger age gap for #3).

Like @MapleMoose: we're NTNP, Jack is 3 months....I should probably make sure DH is on board with this plan.

@skipper2010: I had a csection with my first, and got pregnant 6 months pp. I thought for sure my OB was going to tell me how I got pregnant too soon, and I should have waited. He said that by 6 months I should be completely healed and should be fine. I think it depends in the OB what their recommendation is. My SIL and I have the same OB and she asked him how long he recommends to wait until 6 months pp(this also was after csection)

We're on month 2 of ttc, we have been NTNP since she was 8 months old, she's a year old now. I hope it happens soon! (:

It depends on so many things. I would like our children to be 2-3 years apart, but I would also like to be at a healthy weight this time before TTC. I also have no idea where we'd put a second baby in our current home, although I'm sure we could make it work somehow. We've discussed starting NTNP at 15 months; LO is 7 now.

I think right now we are thinking of a 2.5-3.5 year gap so that gives me a little time. I am looking forward to possibly start weaning once LO hits a year in a couple months so I will have a bit of time to have my body back to myself before we go down that road.

DS was 17 months when we got pregnant with no. 2. Like the first time, we got preggo on our first shot. After no. 2 we need to have a serious discussion about prevention. No baby making needed for a few years! I can't afford to put 3 through daycare at the same time.

We started trying at 10 months, knowing that #1 took quite a while. We got the BFP around 18 months, so they should be about 26 months apart. I really started feeling confident about handling 2 at the 18 month point since walking was going well and he was becoming more independent.

This is going to sound insane but some days I feel like I am ready to TTC again in a few months. (My LO is 7 months). Today is one of those days. She played so well with all of her cousins. I watched 2 other babies on and off this weekend. I feel like I can handle another LO.

We wanted to avoid 2 under 2 so once she was about 14 months we started.

I guess we were always NTNP....AF returned 17 mo pp and DS self-weaned at 21 mo pp. I got pregnant with DD at 22 mo pp.
@cascademom: I've heard the recommendation that there should be 18-23 months between birth and subsequent pregnancies to allow for the moms body to not only recover physically but also nutritionally since nutrients first go to the fetus and baby during pregnancy and breastfeeding and it takes time for the body to rebuild nutrient levels.

He will be around 21 months when we start trying - he's now 19 months

Our OB told us to wait 18 months, but we started when DD was 12 months old figuring it would take a while (took us 8 months for a BFP with DD). I got pregnant that cycle.

We will start TTC next month when DS is 10 months old. We're not charting or anything, but I'm pretty aware of my cycles and I'm extra-interested in BDing during those times anyway, so yeah

DS is 2.5, but now I'm wishing we started when he was 1.5 like DH wanted to do.

LO was about 13 months when we started trying. He's just about 17 months now....still no luck

My OB office tells everyone to wait at least 12 months. I am not really sure... but will at least follow their recommendation.
