LO is less than two weeks old and I'm wondering how old she should be before we take her to meet our friends--nothing in a public space. She's just still so little! When did you first take your baby out?

We took her to people's houses when she was just a week old. My mom felt like we should get out of the house so she made me, and I'm glad she did. No public places till she had her 2 month shots though.

We went to Starbucks (sat outside) when he was 8 days old because I was going nuts. Other than out to doctors appointments that was our first trip.

We only took her to the her doctor appointments and once to my parents before she had her two month shots. I felt that I was in jail but it was worth the peace of mind.

We went out for sushi on day 2. I just had to have sushi! She slept through and we had a great time.

I took her to a party when she was about a week old. It was the Christmas open house at the midwifery. She was passed around like a sugar bowl and surprisingly she slept the whole time

We were out and about the first week home. She had to go to the doctors. Then I had to get a nursing bra. We went to breastfeeding support group to see the lactation consultant and then ran to the mall for a bit (grandma had to buy her some pink clothes) I carried her in the mall with a blanket over her.

I went shopping for nursing bras and a sling and then to lunch with my son when he was 6 days old.

Our pedi recommended we keep him home for a month to get used to our household germs and stuff before being exposed to others'. Of course we took him to his doctor appointments (and mine).

We went out at the 8 day old mark. Took her for a walk and then on a little shopping trip, we had been team green so I was itching to do a little pink and purple clothes shopping- pretty sure she slept through all of it.

Aside from doctor visits, we took our LO out to church for the first time when she was 2 weeks old.

It was warm spring so she was out and about with us from the first day home. We went on lots of walks, she loves the outdoors. We'd sometimes stop and get a bite to eat if there was outdoor seating.

my sil is a pediatrician & she says that baby shouldn't be out & about in public spaces until the 2 month mark. so we'll see how that goes.

i don't have a baby yet, but i have a friend who started taking her baby to church at 2 weeks. i thought that seemed early...but at the same time I can't imagine being on house arrest for 2 months!!! that's insane!

My SIL took my niece out within hours of coming home from the hospital (2 days old)- in a rain storm - to visit friends. SMH

Besides a few trips to the pediatrician, we took him out for walks around the neighborhood the day he got discharged from the hospital (4 days); and out in public (not overly crowded places), we started taking our boy out at 1 week- we've planned the trips around his schedule, usually right after a feeding so we have a few hours of him napping.

We were pretty much freaked out by having a newborn so we never took him out to any public places (except to go to the pediatrician). At around 2 months we finally took him to church for the first time. This time around though, I'm sure we'll be taking the baby out much earlier than that.

I had to get out of the house once a day or else I would go crazy (after week 2). We'd go on a walk or to a store or even go for a drive. I went on a day long shopping trip with him at 4 weeks (not a good idea).

@miranlee: I'd go, you'd be surprised how good it may make you feel - just ask your friends to wash their hands and not to come if they are sick.
