I was 9. I got Lasik about 10 years ago and love it! My daughter kept saying her eyes were blurry recently so we took her for an eye exam last week.Doc says she is slightly farsighted, which is normal for kids, but no glasses. She was sooooo disappointed that she couldn't get glasses.

I was 15, I went for a check up for the very first time because I failed the vision test on my permit. The optometrist was shocked I had never gotten them before that point since my vision was so bad. Thanks, mom!

Then I got LASIK in my 20s and it was the best thing ever!

8, but I only wore them when needing to see things far away. I started wearing them full-time at 14 until I got LASIK at 21.

Seventh grade.
My kid sister got glasses and I tried them on and was like "wow.... I need glasses too."

i got some glasses in 4th grade to help see the board at school. i didn't need to wear glasses full time until i was 30.

8. I distinctly remember being in the third grade and going to pick out my super awesome glasses (it was the 80s, you can just imagine the awesomeness... )

Mid twenties.

9th grade - I became nearsighted from staring super close at a computer screen making pixel art all summer! It was crazy - one day I looked at my tv from another room and thought "wow the picture is so blurry" and when I went up to the tv to mess with the settings, it became clear. I had a minor freakout and then when I went back to school in the fall, I couldn't see the board without squinting really hard. It seemed to happen quickly!

@daniellemybelle: @Grace: All I can think about is Dr. Hahn in Grey's Anatomy having that same experience and equating it to how she now realizes she's gay. Anyone else??

I was in the 5th grade.

Less than two and I had to have multiple surgeries.

15, but probably needed them a year or two earlier.

I'm a 5th grade teacher (so, 10-11 year olds) and you'd be AMAZED at how many students I have that struggle with reading due to uncorrected vision problems. There are so many reasons. Many parents don't have the time/resources/knowledge/money to take them to an eye exam, or they don't follow up with actually buying glasses, or the kids just forget to wear them or don't like them. I try to ask about it and encourage them as much as possible, but without much success.

Out of each class of 30 students, I have about 5-6 students with uncorrected vision issues. It's so frustrating as a teacher

11. I also got braces that year, and I was one of the shortest in my grade. Fun times.
