I waited until around 4 months. No real reason other than I just felt more comfortable waiting til then.

We didn't wait; her 11 year old and 8 year old cousins came and visited almost immediately. We just had them wash their hands real well and made sure they weren't sick. My friend's 3 + 5 year old came over briefly at 3 weeks as well. I wasn't worried as long as they were healthy and cleaned up before touching her.

I would think most parents would know not to bring a kid with sniffles to meet a new baby, and it seems easy enough to just not let other kids hold her yet and make the older ones wash their hands. But you know your friends better than me.

I actually hasn't thought if it as it hasn't come up for us yet. We had one friend bring his 19 month old daughter straight from daycare, but she's allergic to dos and he had to hold her the entire time anyway.

So i guess you can only do what you feel comfortable with. I hear you on being lonely though. The days get a little long when its hard to get out.

We have a lot of kids in our lives so we couldn't really avoid it. LO met lots of little kiddos right away.

We had family and friends visit right away. Needless to say, I'm not sure if all the kiddies and visitors we had could have caused the accident that happened to baby boy at 3 weeks old. He got sick and had a 5 dy stay at Nicu. He never tested positive for anything but who knows what it could have been. I have a hard time telling or asking people to wash their hands when they come visit. (Don't people know better!!, um, no they don't.)...so do what you gut tells you.

I never really thought about it, but the first kid she came in to contact with was a cousin's kid - who is 4 or so. He washed his hands before he touched her. She was 2 weeks old.

DS was 8 weeks early and had a 15 day NICU. So for the first 6 weeks he was home, he was still considered preemie. I didn't let anyone around him!

I might allow this baby sooner, if everything ends up ok.

My 6 year old niece came to see her in the hospital. I have a 2 year old and a niece that will be 1 that were very close to.... So baby #2 will be around kids right away.

my 6 and 2 year old nieces came the day DS was born. DD came the same day as well.
