My parents are both sick. We're driving up to Ohio this weekend and will be spending time with them. Even worse, we're taking a car trip home with them and the baby in the car. I know they're going to want to hold and hug the baby. What do we do? Sick masks? Lots of washing hands and no breathing on the baby? The worst part is going to be cooped up in a car with them for 10 hours... 
Suggestions on how to handle this?

There's not a whole lot you can do for the car journey, maybe make sure you sit next to LO to limit contact. For the rest of the weekend, insist on them washing their hands after blowing their noses, no kissing the baby's face or hands and explain that you're worried about LO getting sick. Some grandparents are great about this kind of thing and others somehow seem to think their germs are not contagious

Perhaps by the time you are in the car they won't be that contagious anymore. DD was playing with another little girl's toy who was coughing up a lung, and DD put it in her mouth! I thought for sure she was doomed to get the cold, but low and behold a week later she is still healthy!
I also think you should just talk to them parent to parent, I know my parents would completely agree and avoid the baby (my MIL, I think she would think those rules don't apply to her)

Ugh I would be a nervous wreak! Just make sure they wash their hands a lot and don't get in LO face, make sure you sit by LO in the car so at least there is a little space between LO and them. Good luck!

We used masks (my mom insisted, not me) and hand washing / purell. Also, if you're nursing or pumping, baby should be protected by the antibodies coming thru your breastmilk. So just make sure you're as exposed to them as she is. Good luck :T
