If your LO wakes up early from a nap, how do you get her/him BACK to sleep? I've spent over half an hour to get her to nap or 25 min., and then another un-successful 20 min. trying to get her back to sleep. She never falls back asleep after waking up from a nap. I need some tips!
FWIW - We already do dark room, sound machine, sleep sack, no eye contact.

Yeah we've never been able to do that. Even if she falls asleep in the car - once she's slept say 15 mins, she's burnt off enough 'sleep pressure' that she won't go back down. Bummer!

@JoJoGirl: us too! I hate when she falls asleep and we are 10 mins away. I try and keep her up, I poke her and talk to her really loud, so bad.

Sometimes bouncing on the exercise ball worked- like one time out of three. Really frustrating!

So far, can't do anything to get her BACK to sleep. Even five minutes of dozing can ruin it.

We're exact same as @JoJoGirl:. Sometimes he'll transfer if he's only fallen asleep for say 10 mins. Other than than I'm SOL! If anything wakes him nap time is done.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing, lol. Nothing I've tried works. I usually give up and offer some boob and she drifts off again...but she recently learned my trick so she's like..."Listen lady, it ain't boob time yet!"

@emg86: lol! nursing to nap doesn't always work anymore. And now she's started playing with the boob if she's not interested in eating. O_o!

You won't like my answer! If my kids wake up from nap and are just fussy, (not full-on crying), I wait 5-10 minutes to see if they can get themselves back to sleep. If they're screaming or throwing a fit, it's over. I get them up and just hang on for dear life through their normal wake time then try again.
Nap schedules suck. Sorry, mama!

I rock her and hum one of her lullabies and it calms her down after about 5 minutes then she's calm enough to place back in her crib.

The only way J will continue his nap once he's up is if he falls back asleep on his own. So it depends on why he woke up - if he just randomly woke up or there was a loud noise or something, sometimes he'll fuss a bit and fall back asleep. If there's some other reason (poop, whim), not likely.

If it's been 30 mins then nothing will help, it's just a short nap. If she wakes up before then, I go in and pick her up and sometimes she will fall asleep with rocking. If that doesn't work then I resort to the boob.

Sometimes I just leave her in her crib, unless she cries out, and occasionally she will go back to sleep. If I go into the room she is up and I have no chance.
