How did you know Zantac was helping your babes reflux? DS still screams/squeals after we burp him and he is refusing to finish. Sometimes if we give him a break, and shush him loudly we can get him to finish.

It doesn't sound like your LO's symptoms have improved. Zantac is so weight dependent. I would ask for Prilosec/Prevacid instead, especially if your LO doesn't seem to be improving/getting any relief.

@MsLipGloss: It's been a week, does it normally take longer than that for Zantac to kick in? He isn't waking up from sleep squealing anymore, which is an improvement. But, youre right, it hasnt improved much. He is eating more over all which is positive. He is taking 2 ml a day, which is in the range for his weight--from what I have found online. I guess a call to the Ped couldn't hurt...

@citymouse: A week is plenty of time for it to kick in. I would definitely ask your Ped about alternative meds. It really sounds like they would help your LO. And if you get any resistance/pushback, I wouldn't hesitate to make an appointment with a Ped GI specialist (although I would probably do that anyway, just to round all the bases so to speak).

Zantac never worked for us (and it sounds like it's not for you.) We had way better luck with Prilosec.

That doesn't sound like it's working.
We saw almost an immediate improvement with Anna when we started giving her Zantac.
I'd see about switching.

That sounds like plenty of time for it to work
Zantac didn't work for M either so we were referred to a pedi GI and switched to Prilosec which made a big difference. Good luck!

We had mild improvement for about 2 weeks and then it got bad again. We were at the top of our allowed amount so we were switched to Prilosec. Ultimately he was MSPI so reflux meds only masked symptoms
