I'd just call yourself out on it - i find the best offense is a good defense! like, "hey I know we sound crazy - but blah blah" and then your bit about no facebook. i don't think you sound crazy, btw. lol.

i've found in the past with things - that laughing at yourself first makes it a little more comfortable for everyone if you feel it might be weird.

You have a great reason! I would just say, "___'s a cop and we've been told to keep all pictures of our LO off the Internet, so that our family stays safe."

That way, the bad guy is someone else...

You have a very good reason, so I don't think people would be offended if you said no facebook. I actually always ask before I post pictures of LO's, especially if I look on their page and don't see any pictures posted yet.

Personally I don't mind posting pics of my LO, but my job doesn't give me any worries about it. Still, I understand that others don't feel the same way as me.

I think just telling friends this is what you prefer would be good enough. You can explain why too, most should get it and if not, well, you may need to be firmer. As for the church and other functions, you might need more reminding there - I know my husband doesn't want his picture on Facebook, and he was pretty pissed when some university event posted one of him and wrote in the caption his first and last name. it came up on google even. He contacted the office and had them take it down. Basically, a case-by-case basis sort of thing unfortunately.
