We found out today that DH got a job offer that he is interested in. The offer itself was fairly good but DH wants to ask for a little more money and a little more vacation time. Problem is that neither of us has ever had to negotiate for a position before, so we aren't sure what to do. Any bees have some advice on how to handle this?

I have no tips because I"m going through this RIGHT NOW! I haven't received an initial offer yet. But I imagine that if it was lower than what I was expecting, I'd call them back and ask them if there was room for negotiation and let them know what I was actually looking for in terms of salary and other benefits. I would lay it all down but let them know that I'd be more than happy to find something that would work for both sides. And then cross my fingers!!

Once you get the offer, I would tell them that you were expecting $XXX amount and see if they would be willing to pay that.
