I bought a new high-capacity front-loading dryer, which is great at drying large loads of clothes. But one thing I hate about this dryer is anytime I wash blankets or sheets, they all get tangled up in one big wad, and the the dryer makes loud thumping noises and starts to shake all over the place. I have to pause it and untangle everything at least 2-3 times during the drying cycle. Is there a way to prevent the dryer wad when drying large items?

Mine doesn't make noises or shake but they do wad up - I just open it up shake them a little and dry again

And I also second wool dryer balls. I usually throw in one more than usual with sheets because inevitably one will get wrapped up in a fitted sheet and become useless.

I do the plastic dryer balls and I also find that adding some towels to my sheets helps. I think when there's less room for them to toss around they don't tangle as much.
And sometimes I dry all of the top sheets together with the pillow cases and the fitted sheets by themselves. Since fitted seem to be the culprit for me.
All this do say I have the same issue and feel your pain and there hasn't been a perfect solution but I alternate all of the above depending on the situation. -
Get the huge wool dryer balls! They don't eliminate the issue but help a lot!

Wool dryer balls. I feel I'm in the minority but I use like, 8 or 9 in there.

Agree with dryer balls! I used to use 2 or 3 and it didn't help but at least 5 does. You can make wool ones really easily by wrapping 100% wool yarn around an old sock until it's at least tennis ball sized then washing until it's felted. I made ours in no time!

I use 9 wool dryer balls - sheets still wad up!
