Did you have a lot of fun? Were you a latchkey kid or was one of your parents home when you came home from school? Did you have a lot of chores or work to do? Did you just play all the time?

I did have fun as a young child and I played all the time until I was around 9-10. My parents moved out of the neighborhood I grew up in and into a house that they couldn't afford, then I became a latchkey kid. I felt the financial stress in my family. I actually never had chores to do except clean up after myself (so, I did my own dishes, cleaned my room, etc.). When I got older though (13ish), I started taking care of their house more. I don't think I really played at all then but I watched a lot of tv.

We were latchkey kids. Helped around the house a lot, but were always outside playing too. We just needed to come home before the sun went down.
I started cooking dinner for my entire family when I was 9. Mom worked, dad was in school and working, sisters weren't interested in cooking and were busy studying.
We struggled financially, but I had a great childhood
