DS turned 2 in September and while he can have his "moments", I think he is a blast! Maybe that's because lately he responds "yeah" to almost everything?! I'm sure we are in for some battles, but right now, he's so much fun! I think 18-24 months was harder in some ways, less communication. I love how vocal DS is getting now.

Twos have been interesting so far. LO's showing his independence for sure. Knowing how to communicate with him and establishing boundaries are half the battle. Morning tantrums were awful recently until I instituted a routine chart. He's gotten better about it. Also, he talks and talks. So much talking and thoughts from someone. It's fascinating to watch. It's been both tough and fun. Harvey Karp's book on toddlers has helped a lot.

@DillonLion: so much fun! (he'll be 3 in a month.. how??) In his second year, he really learned how to communicate - he talks up a storm and loves to sing and read books and just chat in general. The meltdowns have dwindled because he can express what he's frustrated about. Before he had his words, meltdowns, for the most part, were like a guessing game.
Though he can still be picky about meals, he's up for trying new things and telling me what he likes and what he would like to eat. When he was smaller, I would make a few things and hoped there was something he'd eat.
Sleep is pretty much the same. He's never been a great sleeper or a napper. He's too excited to do things to rest. He goes to bed late and wakes up early, but still happy as ever.
For us, 2 was fantastic!

Our daughter is very stubborn, independent, and using the word our pediatrician called "spirited." She is very vocal which is a blessing but she always is already bargaining and refusing to do stuff. She's so much fun right now with a funny personality but when she hits the tantrums watch out!

The twos are SOOOO much fun!!! He has been a joy- he is learning so much all the time, his communication skills are booming, and he is fun to play with because he really interacts and everything.
We haven't really had a ton of tantrums or "terribleness". We did have issues with daycare but i think it was more being overwhelmed than age-related problems.

@DillonLion: DD turned two in August. We are testing the boundaries. Lol.. We have asserting of independence, mood swings and temper tantrums. We have had the exploration of art on paper, walls and DS. Lol. We have had tantrums when it comes time to use the potty and then per on the floor seconds later. DD gets really mean at bedtime. Twos aren't that terrible when you look at their perspective of things, most of the time DD just wants to help me or be independent.

@littleblessings: this is so true. Generally when DD is being frustrating, she just wants to help (and us maybe bring overzealous or too slow), or is frustrated I've stopped her from doing something. It's hard to remember but helps me calm down when I'm getting fed up.

It jus took an hour to brush teeth, use the potty, read books and get to bed. Can I use the F word?

Seriously, though. This age is the best (other than when you want her to do something she doesn't want to do). The language, the physical abilities, the love she gives. It is so, so amazing.

2s were awesome.
The 1st half of 3s were great. The 2nd half is 75% great. the other 25% of the time I wanna pull my hair out-- lots of defiance and disobedience!

As much as the 2's and the 3's get a bad rap, I have loved them for the most part! They are learning so much, saying the cutest things, imitating everything, and just really coming into their own little personalities - it is so much fun to see.

ROUGH. It doesn't help that we also brought home his brother shortly after he turned 2, he's had a hard time adjusting since communication was challenging and he just didn't understand. Things have been getting better as we near 3, so I'm hoping we are leaving the hard phase in the dust. Being able to communicate has helped a lot. That and bribery with lollipops.

We only entered "the twos" last month but so far I would say they've been up and down. On the up side LO is now STTN on a consistent basis, has chosen to sleep in her big bed and I love watching her language develop and her personality flourish. On the down side LO is rapidly developing her independence which is throwing up some challenges but I'm trying to change how I react and avoid creating battles.

My LO has been throwing full on tantrums, hurling himself to the floor, kicking, flailing, screaming when he doesn't get what he wants since about 9 months old. I am TERRIFIED of what is to come as he turns into an actual toddler!
