Let's say your son or daughter was going to be a parent before graduating high school and wanted to choose abortion, how would you feel about that?
While I don't want to have one personally, I don't think I could tell my child no. I feel like its a decision you have to make for yourself, regardless of your age.

ETA- I'm very pro-choice in general. A woman should always be able to make the choice herself.

I would feel sad (and probably a little angry and disappointed) but I would be supportive.

Now, if my child wanted to keep the child, I would be supportive as well.
Seeing that I'm still not pregnant at 30, so I can't exactly relate, but my older sister had a child at 17 years old and having a child that young didn't mess up her life. I actually look up to my sister.

I would feel sad that they had to make such a big decision at such a young age (or any age, really) and I would despair that I could not protect them from it and from any heartache it might cause them..... There would also be a part of me that would be relieved that she had made the decision that was best for her and proud of her for being brave enough to do so. I would support her every step of the way.

@Cherrybee: Well said! I'd be sad that she had to struggle with the decision and that she would have to go through that, but I'd be 100% supportive.
I'd support her no matter what decision she made, though.

In total honesty, I'd be relieved. If she wanted to have the baby I would support her but it would be harder for me to accept.

I would lay out all of the options so they at least know that I am here to be supportive such as helping raise the child, etc. In the end it's their choice and I will support that either way.

I would tell her (and believe) that she had made the responsible choice and that I am proud of her for making a difficult decision and that I will always be proud of her and love her.

I would be incredibly sad. I would love her completely no matter what, but I would be very sad.

I'm very pro choice so ultimately it would be her decision. But I'd let her know that the other options are valid and we'd support her if she wanted to keep the baby or give it up for adoption. Especially because my mom got pregnant with my brother at 17 when she was a junior in high school. My grandma pushed my mom to get an abortion and she refused, and her life was not exactly easy but at the same time it's hard to imagine a world in which my brother doesn't exist.

How sad it is that a young person has to even make such a choice goes without saying.
I would probably feel that she was doing the best thing for herself and the child and i'd support her in the emotional turmoil that she may endure after.

My heart would be devastated but I would always love them. I guess I would hope that before they got to that point they would see my situation and see that there is hope and especially with a good support system it wouldn't be the end of the world.

It would be their decision... I would make sure she knows all the facts/options and that we love her no matter what. However, given our faith in God and hoping that our children will also find their faith in God, I have no problem saying that I would 110% want them to keep the baby.

I would feel sad and honestly upset that my child got themselves into the situation to begin with and I would probably look at myself where I could parent better. I know kids think they are invincible, but I just hope they wouldn't be afraid to ask for help when it comes to birth control methods. As far as the decision they made with a pregnancy, I would try to be the kind of support they needed.

I would feel conflicted, as I imagine my child would feel. I would support and love her no matter her decision, but I would be disappointed that she was in that situation, and I would second guess whether I was doing things right as her parent. I don't think it is the parents' fault, but just being honest, I'm sure I would feel guilty too.

I am extremely pro choice and it is 100 percent my child's decision. However I will be preaching birth control instead of abstinence so hopefully it wouldn't come to that

I would be relieved. The life of a teen mom is typically riddled with trouble. I don't want to have to raise my grandchildren, too, because she didn't protect herself. Pregnancy prevention is too easy for the vast majority of women and I imagine the choices in 15 years will be plentiful

I would be heartbroken, and I would be more than willing to help her keep the baby, but I would be supportive & probably relieved as well if she chose not to.
I am pro-choice but after experiencing the miracle of life, I know it would devestate me & haunt me for a long time so I really hope this never happens. I hope LO chooses to wait until she's an adult for sex but we will also educate her about birth control & make sure she knows we will help her if she needs it.

@hotchildinthecity: Yes, exactly. Abstinence is simply not a reality for most teens these days, so we will support/encourage birth control from a very young age.
Since we have a son, I would STRONGLY encourage him to support her decision, whether or not he agrees with it fully. I plan to raise him to respect women, which includes respecting their right to choose. Not his body, not his decision.

I really hope she's never in that position. I would support her no matter what and would make it perfectly clear she understands what that means and that she's aware of her options.

I would be most sad that she would have to go through the experience of making a decision like that. Without the experience myself, I would be nervous about being enough of the support she needs. Ultimately, her choice and I will be there for her every moment.

Honestly, it would be a relief, the best outcome for a bad situation. I can't imagine too many chances of a happy ending for a kid having a kid so young. Very glad abortion is a legal option.
