I can't find a single legit source discussing this and her actual comments appear to be much more tempered than the headline would lead us to believe.

@Mrs. Jacks: Just found the same, thank you. I received the vaccine in my early twenties. My OB was clear that you cannot adequately eliminate your risk of HPV by being in a monogamous relationship or using condoms.

While it would be great if more testing trials were administered, I feel this is just the next vaccine being targeted.

This link won't load at my work but I highly doubt she truly calls it a "giant deadly scam". My gardasil shots hurt like a mother and the second one made me vomit for the next 24 hours. But it certainly isn't deadly. I will allow my daughter to make the choice for herself whether or not she will receive this vaccine just as I did.

@Mrs. Jacks: Thank you. I was wondering if you would chime in on this. I work for a biotech company and I would find it hard to believe a large pharmaceutical to commit fraud like that. I got the first shot of the vaccine but unfortunately forgot to get the 2 other shots and my insurance covers it up until the age of 26. So it's too late at this point, unless I pay out of pocket.

@Mrs.Someone: LOL! I didn't get the vaccine though because I was too old to have it be covered, sadly!

@Mrs. Jacks: Same here! Sometimes I think I should still get it anyway just to be safe, but ah well.

@pui: When I got my first shot, my doctor said I could develop it in the future or maybe she was talking about cervical cancer, that's why I decided to get it. I think my doctors ended up calling my insurance to see if I could get it past the age of 26. After them being on the phone for 30 minutes, I found out it wasn't covered.

I got the vaccine. I have had a history of abnormal PAPs coming back as HPV positive (thanks cheating ex-boyfriend) so my doctor thought it was important. I find it hard to believe such a huge pharmaceutical company would commit fraud on such a large scale. I started the vaccine a few months before the cut off age and had the last shot after it but it was still covered.

Just in case you may be interested in getting it, my 57 year old mom had her GYN offer it to her a couple of years ago. The doctor said it would have been covered. Not sure if this is the case with all doctors but I found it interesting. My mom found it hilarious as she's been happily married to my dad for 35 years and had no need for it.

Let me start out by saying I am VERY pro-vaccine.

I am not sold on Gardasil though. A lot of research on the vaccine was undertaken by a research institute at the institution at which I work, and I have heard some of the researchers speak out (not publicly) against Gardasil. They've said they would never give it to their daughters and they encourage others to think twice about same.

@Mrs. Jacks: unfortunately I don't. As I said above, the comments have not been made publicly or in writing - just in conversation. I know, not an overly compelling argument, but based on what I've been told DD will not be getting that vaccine.
