This is my second pregnancy, with my first I had 2 sweeps and they did nothing. I was induced at 39+4 for high blood pressure.
I am 38 weeks today, and according to my doctor I am 4cm dilated and my cervix is "short". I've been losing small amounts of my plug for a week or so. She doesn't think I'll make it to my appointment next Friday.
I'm just wondering what people's experiences with membrane sweeps are. I feel like it's not going to work, but then again I am also SO hopeful it will.

I had a sweep on my due date and 3 days later I gave birth. I actually thought it helped because my bloody show happened the night of my sweep and I was started having contractions that night. When I went in for labor I was 5 cm dilated but my water didn't break yet. When they finally broke my water is when I went into full on labor.

I had a sweep around 11am and went into labor late that night. I was 39 weeks and 2 days, but stayed 1 cm dilated for a couple of weeks.

My sister just had one. She was stalled at 2 cm and, 30 minutes later, she was at 10.

I had one on a Tuessday, nothing happened. And another on Sunday, had baby Monday morning. Good luck!!

I had a membrane sweep and went into labor about 24 hours later and had my baby in my arms 6 hours after that... Good luck! I hope it works for you!

Ugh. My down there hurts just hearing those words! I had it done twice each pregnancy and it seemed to get things started.

@Sophs Mama: I went into labour the day after my sweep. I was 40 weeks though and also ate a whole pineapple that day which supposedly brings on contractions.

I was already 5 days late and went into labour shortly after my 2nd (and SUPER aggressive) sweep. Don't know if they were related or if I was just ready.

Sweep on Thursday afternoon, went into labor Friday night (early Saturday morning).

It did nothing for me, I had two. My dr said they would work within 48 hours if they were going to work

I had one towards the end of my first pregnancy. It didn't do anything for me. I was induced 10 days past my due date, not dilated at all.

I was 3-4cm, 80% effaced when I had my membrane sweep. It was a Wednesday. We scheduled an induction for the following Tuesday, but the doc was certain I wouldn't make it to the induction. She was wrong. The sweep did nothing, and I was induced!

I had one yesterday morning at 40+2. I took a long walk with DD after and ate the better part of a pineapple. Still pregnant...

I had one that didn't do anything but I wasn't very dilated. The next week I was 3 days past due date and I had another done and went into labor a few hours later.

I had one at 40+3 and went into labor at 2am that night! I definitely think it jump started my labor.

I had a sweep when I was 39 weeks pregnant. I was 4cm's dilated when I had it done and I didn't feel much. We, ahem, DTD a few hours after the appointment and I went into labor immediately after that. So...the sweep was done at 11am, I went into labor at 2pm and delivered at 5pm.

Had the sweep a couple days before my due date. I was close to 3cm dilated. Started feeling contractions shortly after leaving the doctors office and went into labor that night. It worked really fast!
