Is there a reward that would be motivating for him? Our LO will be 3 in August and currently loves stickers. She will do just about anything for a sticker. Perhaps a sticker chart where he can collect stickers for his successes? And maybe a bigger reward (special snack, extra book, trip to the park) for a number of successes (a full day of staying dry, or collecting 10 stickers).

Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions on how to actual get him to be more self-aware, LO started training in December and was just ready. Unfortunately, we have had a recent regression with more accidents and we still aren't night trained.

Is there a reason to use cloth trainers versus pull ups? Honestly, we did pull ups for a WHILE. Not cheap obviously but for school they requested it until she started getting the hang of it during the day.

How many days of no-diapers has it been? We just went through this with my DS and there were definitely accidents. It really clicked on the Day 3. He was really motivated by his treats. I pulled out all the stops. M&Ms were not good enough. Fun gummies, chocolate were more motivational for him. Hope it gets better soon!

We watched the Elmo potty time DVD over and over during our. 3 day potty boot camp. LO was able to echo a lot of the themes after all the repetition so we were able to remind her about what Elmo said about listening to your body etc...we try to limit screen time but this was worth it!

I also agree with the rewards idea--it helped a ton to get stickers and m&ms when we were getting started.

Also, does he help you clean up the accidents? Not in a shaming or blaming way, but just in an accountable way? A friend said this really helped her LO.

Uggh...we are going through the same thing! We've been potty training for about 3 weeks now and we still have accidents every other day. He also tends to save his pee and poop for his nap and nighttime diapers. He is just in underwear during the day.

I feel your pain though because it's not that our kids aren't motivated to pee and poo in the toilet, they just aren't able to figure out that they have to pee and how to tell us until it's too late. We review several times a day where he is supposed to pee/poop, whether or not he is supposed to pee/poop in his pants, as well as the sign for potty. He has been able to tell me he needs to pee by grabbing his penis, but otherwise it's all about me timing when to sit him on the potty.

I will also say that my son won't pee/poop just to get a treat...and he loves his treats (we do chocolate chips)! If he has to go, he will go, but if he doesn't he will sit for a minute or two and tell me he's all done.
