I don't mind it because some threads interest me so much I keep reading additional comments, but may not have anything more to add to the discussion.

@MamaMoose: When you're on the main board if you hover your mouse over the yellow comment box it will tell you how many times the post has been viewed.

I don't use this feature because I HB on my phone 99% of the time...but I always look at it when I'm on the laptop

I just never look at it. Keep in mind, though, I bet HB gets a lot of traffic that are lurkers. The amount of folks that read this site that actually sign and comment is a lot smaller than folks that come just to peruse.

I like it! It's fun to see how many people revisit a post or just click to read. I do it a lot and then I thread stalk posts like "what's for dinner?"

I guess I'm one of the people who make you nuts. I mostly lurk. I rarely have anything to add to a conversation that hasn't been said. I also prefer to just check back on threads that look interesting, rather than subscribe, so I make it even worse! Sorry! ^_^

@aprk: usually it's people clicking on search results who pump up views without commenting! We have closed registration too (you have to be invited to join, or apply) and so that contributes too.

@mrbee: yeah, I totally get it. I'm guilty of reading posts without commenting too. I guess I just don't personally have a need to see the # of views. I'm almost always on a mobile device anyway so it's moot for me

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @LizSmith: @oliviaoblivia: Let me clarify: it's not that people DO it ( that would be very hypocritical of me...I do it too, especially to check for updates on birth in process and POAS threads!) it's that I KNOW it's happening! As I said, it makes me question whether or not I should have started a thread, especially if it's something I'm hoping for legit advice about and not just a fluff thread! Ignorance is bliss and all that!

i don't always comment because i just want to learn about something and don't have anything to offer. it doesn't bother me, but i don't look that often!

@travelgirl1: ditto this. I'm constantly on HB on my phone, and so I comment on like 5% of whet I actually read. As soon as I get on my laptop though I comment a lot more in a short time - but that is not even every day.
I also didn't know this feature existed but will definitely check it out next time i'm on my laptop and I'm sure I will obsess about for a bit.

im neurotic about that too. Views vs replies is embarrassing sometimes. But i do "get" that sometimes there's no more "of value" to add to a thread! Thank god i don't see # of views on iPad or phone

I like to read up on stuff that I might not be able to contribute to (threads aimed more at those who already have an LO) or don't have anything new to add to a thread sometimes.
Also, silver lining - if a thread has a high read rate it could be that people are still interested enough to read and check it out -
