I need a stick vacuum to use upstairs on both carpet and hardwood - I am so tired of dragging the big vacuum upstairs.
Do you have one you love?

I don't but if you want general advice, I read the reddit post from a vacuum repair technician that got a TON of questions and great answers... and do not EVER get a shark! they are built to die! he said the materials they use are literally more expensive than better materials but break down quicker, forcing you to buy another sooner...
he said dirt devil is good.

@mrs. wagon: good to know - thanks!
I looked on amazon and saw the Dirt Devil and Hoover - but wasn't sure if one was better than the other?

We have an Electrolux Rapido, it's so easy to use, my 3 year old picks up after himself!

@MamaMoose: ME TOO! I love my Dyson Animal but it's so heavy I have a love/hate relationship with it.
Right now I just combine using my giant but great Dyson Animal, then using a small handheld Bissell, and then using my Roomba!

@Mamaof2: We have a red dirt devil. It works great and even deals with our 2 long-haired dogs. The handle broke a few weeks ago, but my husband taped it back together ghetto style. It definitely is much lighter than our dyson and easier to carry up the stairs.

@MamaMoose: Yikes $500! I was thinking more like $50

Omg DH is lucky the DC59 didn't exist when we got ours.

@chopsuey: The problem is I already have the Dyson Ball so there is no way he'll let me buy ANOTHER Dyson when we have a cleaning lady anyway!

@looch: I have one of those too! It is probably one of my favorite things that I own it is so useful!

I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Electrolux-Ergorapido-Handheld-Cordless-EL1014A/dp/B002IAY3N0
and it is perfect for regular hardwood cleaning. We have dogs and it works great for hair clumps and also works on the indoor-outdoor rug under our dining table. Not sure how good it would be on thicker carpet.
It's not super powerful, but I love that it is battery powered and you can detach the handheld to clean up other messes. I used it for crumbs on the table and dining chairs.

We have a Dyson and looove it. Super light-weight and works well. Just needs to be emptied a lot.

I have the dyson slim and it does an awesome job for a tiny vacuum. The only annoying part is that it needs to be charged and only lasts 20 minutes on one charge.
