So, I technically work two jobs.
1) as a wine bar/ coffee shop "manger." I used to have a lot more responsibilities before I left because of bed rest/maternity leave, but now that I am back I pretty much only write the schedule and then take a lot of crap from everyone.
2) a freelance writer/editor. If this job was reliable, it would be my only one. However, some months I have four jobs lined up and sometimes I will go months and months without a client.
My first job (and main source of income) has always brought me nothing but stress. My boss (the owner) is extremely flaky, dishonest, two-faced, and the complete opposite of business-savvy. He says one thing to me, but then goes and says something different to another employee because he wants to be on everyone's side. Because of this, there is constantly some sort of drama going on at work. It brings nothing but stress and I can't take working with the catty employees (or owner) anymore. I have worked for him for years so there have been many conversations, many meetings, but nothing has changed whatsoever. He is extremely hard to work for. I am the only person who has stuck it out this long.... most people quit within months.
I would quit without any qualms (and without writing a long-winded HB post) if we didn't NEED the money. So I am wondering if you guys have any advice.
I don't need to make much money. My DH's income covers all the bills, so what I will be making will help pay off student loans/medical bills/go into savings. So even $1,000 a month makes a difference.
Those who work from home, what do you do? I would love to work from home full time since leaving my five-month old makes me so sad!
Would you quit? What other jobs would you look for? I don't really know what to do.
